Quake Remastered is coming to PC and consoles. It will be free if you had the original.

Surprise from id Software at QuakeCon, Quake Remastered. From what I had read in other specialized media and forums, a surprise was expected at QuakeCom, especially it was rumored that a new Quake would be released. Let's remember that since Quake IV in October 2005 we have not had any more games in this saga, so there were many speculations about it.
But in the end the surprise is nothing other than a Remastered Quake. In my opinion I think it's great, although we will always be waiting to see if they continue with the saga
If we have the original Quake on Steam, we will receive an update that will allow us to get this remastered edition for free. You just have to update the game and that's it. If we don't have the original, we can buy it for 9.99 euros. Quake Remastered is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X-Series S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
At a technical level, Quake Remastered brings improvements that affect numerous aspects, such as character modeling, lighting, ambient occlusion, depth of field and textures, but it doesn't bring anything that justifies its existence, at least from a technical point of view. As for the gameplay, the most important novelty it introduces is the possibility of choosing scenario and map, and also the inclusion of a new expansion created by MachineGames, the "Dimension of the Machine".Source of the information: N3D.

Great memories. It was my first online game. The number of matches in quakeworld. And in campaign mode done at all difficulties. So addictive.
The thing is that compared to current games it looks a bit outdated. I think.
