Motorola has introduced a smartphone accessory that connects via Bluetooth and allows you to send text messages via satellite. The device costs €150 and includes a one-year subscription.

You no longer need Star Link or other expensive satellite services to venture into remote places without coverage. With this compact device protected at IP68 level, 600 mAh, and GPS, you will have instant messaging and an SOS button that works independently of the mobile, in any remote place or without coverage.

For $150 the bundle with annual subscription allows up to 30 bidirectional messages per month and SOS assistance.

They also mention that Motorola and Bullit smartphones will come with satellite communication.
