Asus X555LD - CMOS battery charging system
-
Hello community,
I came across this laptop model, which does not have a battery (C21N1347). The thing is that I realized that it does not keep the date and time either in the BIOS or in Win11. I did some research on this topic, and it seems that there are laptops that power the CMOS directly from the battery, that is, they no longer have the CR2032 battery to be able to change it when it runs out.
I also sent an inquiry about this issue to Asus 15 days ago.

But I have not received a response yet...
Does anyone know if this model does not have the battery, I say this because I would not like to have to buy a battery that is not original from Asus, and then it does not work due to incompatibility.thanks and salu2

Well, I don't know this model exactly but if you open it, you'll see if it comes with a battery or not. It has to be a battery of this style (the photo). As for the batteries, they are sold on AliExpress generic that usually don't cost that much.

Sorry, I haven't seen any opened to be able to assure you and the replacement boards are usually sold without the battery included.

hello pos_yo,
The issue is not that I don't know how to identify the types of batteries (CR2032) and the location, I have changed many, and in fact I have it disassembled.

My first problem is to know if it has one (so as not to keep disassembling) and second and more importantly is to know if a compatible battery is suitable and has that function (direct CMOS charging).

According to the teardown video, there is no button cell battery in sight, so it must also be powered by the main battery.
Salu2!
