@radge You can decrypt it on any other site as long as you remember the private password of course. Anyway cobian backup will not stop working, it just stopped having support and for the moment it has no updates. The last version is cobian backup 11 and it works on windows 10.

So that you can see how far my ignorance goes, I didn't discover the thing about Alcohol and ISO images (someone told me) until 2002 or so.

I, with one hand on my chest and the other in my wallet, I think I remember not going beyond Nero, WinAmp and EasyCD Creator. You can imagine the addiction I got (after buying that famous Philips CD burner in 98/99, yes, the one with the red button (CDD3610)) to copy "well" the games I rented at the video rental stores. To make matters worse, without internet.

I blame it on that, on the "hamburgerization", on having everything easy today, that you press three keys and "they give it to you done".

Anyway, it's like if they put a 386 in front of me now and ask me to configure the Autoexec.bat and Config.Sys for this or that.

Little by little I'm hitting the nail on the head: you have to convert the CDs to another type of audio format, MP3 or WAV, and compile it again as an audio CD without closing the disc, add the data track and close the compilation. And for the audio tracks protected by copyright, as I put it above (sound recorder configuring stereo mix as recording device) and repeat the process.

...and all for a game that I haven't even managed to get running with DOS-BOX (Microtrack by Aludra Software)

That said, thank you very much for your interest.

That's it! In a little while I will publish the signed executable.

Well, this whole code certificate thing is a joke turned into a business. Certum has been frustrating; their technical support is terrible and I've lost confidence in them to be honest. In the end I opted for a Texan certification authority called SSL dot com. They don't have the cheapest prices but they're nowhere near the most expensive. And they don't ask for crazy things. The process was as follows:

Last Thursday I made the purchase and uploaded the validation documents. In my case it was enough with:
    · A copy of my driver's license
    · A water bill from 3 months ago
    · A photo of me showing both documents

This afternoon I asked how things were going. Since the question, in less than an hour they activated the certificate. If I hadn't asked the same thing I would have had to wait a month. In general, the SAC of these companies seems quite lamentable, both in response time and quality of the same. But these ones, seeing that I've loosened the purse strings, seem to have taken me a little more seriously.

In the end I will do the link topic. Now with the magazines I have the same doubts that I suppose will end up being the same. I have been doing OCRs, indexes and writing a search engine for a few days and the truth is that I find it interesting to have the possibility of searching text in thousands of magazines. I suppose that here I will do like Google: show only the page where the text that has been searched appears.

The truth is that what a hassle with copyrights. I don't know who will be able to make an economic profit from the Prince of Persia or a Micromanía from 98 or what harm can be done by publishing things like this, but anyway.

I have been using facebook container for a long time. It is a good idea, but as long as we continue to use facebook on the mobile, instagram, whatsapp or the rest of the apps that send information to facebook, they will have all the information they want from us. They know us better than we know ourselves, they know what we like, what we don't... Fortunately we are only numbers, but said information in the wrong hands could ruin your life.

We will end up like in Minority Report in which they presented personalized advertising by facial and retinal recognition.

Well, in fact, it is a geographical issue, not a nationality issue. As far as I know, what is achieved with DoH (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) is to encrypt what comes after the domain. For example, in foro.hardlimit.com/parte_cifrada, the subdomain and domain travel without encryption. The same with the IP. That is, a provider can continue to monitor the places you visit with the restriction that they will not know which pages of those sites you are visiting.

This format seems to give very good results, let's see if all browsers accept it, and release conversion tools to be able to use it. If a tool like FastStone allowed recording in this format, and was compatible with modern browsers, it would be ideal for websites.

I hate ransomware problems....it's one of the most disgusting things I encounter in my work ? The best way to prevent this is to have backups, several ones, and of course not to leave them connected to the computer constantly.
Even if you schedule backup scripts to mount and unmount the drive, you can avoid problems.

    Best regards!!

Same here... it gives me diarrhea when I find a data server with all the files renamed...

@Yorus Totally. The video acceleration in Firefox for Linux is insane. I've had a few computers, as you say, from budget ranges where the difference between Windows and Linux was significant for this detail. On laptops it will be beneficial in all ranges for battery reasons.

Always buy one that allows you to use a DLNA server. I don't recommend a nas to anyone. You'll miss that utility later. I changed a thecus 5200pro because I couldn't put a DLNA server on it, and because it didn't have power. I put together a celeron centrino with 512 of ram and even so it doesn't recover. That is, it's about 15 years old, more or less. But it works

    Hello:

Which disks are you backing up to? Because with the hds space you have, I don't think it will go very well. Calculate that if you copy the 2Tb one to the others, I don't know if the program will let you send it to different disks. Mostly because the program won't see them as a single disk. Back in the day, there was Linux LVM, which was a software RAID for computers to which many disks were added periodically, but you didn't want to relocate the data every time you did it. But I'm talking to you from 15 years ago. Now I don't know if it's still being done. Mostly because the price of hdds has dropped considerably.
For what you ask, the first thing will be to get disks of the same size, set up a raid, and then use the program you want for backups. One that I used a lot in its day is this one, with a tutorial from a forum colleague:

    https://computerhoy.com/paso-a-paso/software/sincroniza-facilmente-tus-archivos-freefile-sync-18791

Let's see if this one serves you.

Well, I can't think of any updated antivirus that you can install without an internet connection. Maybe it would be better for you to take out the hard drive from that computer and from another computer run an antivirus and clean it well.

And once you finish, put it back on and start it in safe mode with network functions and run some antimalware tool, or some specific utility depending on your problem.

I also recommend that you run these utilities afterwards:

    Thanks for responding.

For now, I'm going to use what I have until I get a more polished graphical interface. What's really bugging me is that the version of Remote System Monitor that allowed for the customization of views as analog clocks (and for free) was an old one and was on the phone that broke.

The idea is (was) to grab a cheap tablet I have lying around, attach it to the front of the tower and have it as a hardware monitor with the essentials, and with the option for more complete details... anyway, I'll keep looking.

    Thanks.
