      Hello:

I've seen this news and I'm left :ugly: Vodafone stops subsidizing mobile phones for new customers - CincoDías.com

I was planning to switch from Movistar to Vodafone, to get a new mobile phone with GPS, Internet. Something like the HTC Sensation or something like that, but now that they will stop subsidizing mobile phones, I suppose that for switching companies I won't get a mobile phone (either for free or paying less than it's worth unlocked).

So I'm not really sure what to do. One option would be to buy an unlocked one, but something similar to what I want or cheaper like the Motorola Defy + is going up in price, and exceeds 200€ or more. A Samsung Mini unlocked I think can be bought for just over 120€, but it's not in the same segment. I don't want a cucumber of a mobile phone but something that will last me a few years. Will it be better to wait a couple of months to see what everything ends up being or is it better to switch now that there are only a few days left? ¬¬

I had also thought about the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 that's just coming out, but now with the news I'm out of the game.

      regards

I think the only company that still subsidizes mobiles is Orange, so I think you can either go with them to try or buy one that you find on offer at ThePhoneHouse or somewhere like that :ugly:

I don't care much about this, I'm one of those who prefers to buy a free phone and if I can't then I save if I want to have the whim, because I think the rates they put and the price of the telecos are a real savagery, I use the phone now like before or more and I don't reach 15€ a month and before I spent more than 40 or 50 in a big company, let's see if they end this because it's bad for them and for the consumer.

@amd125 the galaxy ace were around 200€ free, when the 2 comes out it will probably be around that price, wait a little until summer to see.

Well for now it seems that I'm going to wait, because I wanted a mobile phone like the Galaxy Ace 2. which is big, but not huge. Phones with screens larger than 4" seem too big to me to be honest.

In yoigo there are still good offers. Even in prepaid.

Htc chachacha for 70 euros. Huawei with everything also 60 euros or something like that.. Not bad for those phones.

I think that from April 10, or something like that sounds to me…

If you hurry you can still get the Sony Ericsson XPERIA NEO V for €0.

I got the NEO in July last year with the @XS tariff and I think it's the best purchase I've made.

                Best regards!

I think that with Holy Week in the middle... time just flies by. I almost prefer to buy a free one and be without ties.

                  Thanks to all.

                    Well, what a p…ada ?

I started with MoviLine (Telefónica's ANALOG mobile line) back in the day, then they moved me to MoviStar and I stayed with them for almost 10 years :ugly:

After that, I've been switching from MoviStar to Vodafone and vice versa JUST to get a new phone for FREE

For now, you have Orange left, which still does it. I don't know if Yoigo will stop doing it too.

I've been with Orange for "all my life", literally, because before that it was Amena, which is when I signed the contract in 2003, and I was coming from a prepaid plan that I had since 2001.

I only considered switching to Vodafone once, so they could give me an LG, which was the one before the Samsung I have now. And to be honest, it wasn't a great phone.
However, the one I have now cost me €9 with the points I had. Anyway, I've always tried not to spend more than €30-40 on a phone, because if you calculate that you spend an average of €30 a month for 18 months, that's €540. And I'd rather not calculate the average for these almost 10 years of contract, plus the prepaid time.

Anyway, my contract is due to expire in a couple of months +/-, and since I don't have a data plan or anything, and it's time to upgrade, I'm thinking about what to do.

Honestly, I'm falling in love with the iPhone, and it's the only time I admit to being in love with a phone... but you see what they ask for and you get a heart attack, really.
I think the most affordable one in points is €279 for the "normal" 8GB iPhone 4.
And I'm not sure if porting to MoviStar would make it cheaper.

Maybe I'll consider looking at a Galaxy 2 on MoviStar, porting myself and if Orange tries to retain me, then maybe they'll offer me an iPhone at a more decent price. On the website, I see that for used ones they ask for about €70-80... I don't know why they ask for that for new ones and they don't even pay attention to us who have been with them for a decade.

And, well, if it goes wrong and I have to stay with MoviStar, at least I like the Galaxy, I'm happy with my current Samsung.

Forgive me for the wall of text... xDDD

                        Best regards!

P.D: If it helps, my Telefónica ADSL contract expires more or less when my contract with Orange does, and I'm planning to push them hard, or they make me another offer or I'll cancel it... will this help me get a "cool" phone?
Yes, I'm not an Apple fanboy, but since Steve Jobs died, I've been wanting something from them, lol.

I have been with Orange "all my life", in fact my prepaid card is still Amena :ugly: and I have only had three mobile phones, Sony ericsson T610, Samsung E250 and now Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, all for zero euros through a family or friend's renew plan xD The Samsung and Nokia lost their screens at some point, and I repaired them for free by looking for dead donors :troll: Anyway, it is a good idea to get a free one and start enjoying a mobile phone, but I am happy with my line, I don't need much more ?
Forgive me too for telling you my experience unrelated to the matter, but seeing Neptunno, who is still a permanent Orange fighter since Amena… I couldn't help it :ugly:

I also had prepaid with Amena, and I put up with Orange until they got heavy with giving the data, because they were supposed to have it already, but they wanted me to go to one of their stores to give the commercial talk, so as the rates were disgusting, I switched to Simyo which uses the same network and I am very happy with the change (Pioneer Rate).

About the mobiles, I have been using free ones for a long time, and the last one I bought was a Samsung Mini, taking advantage of the accumulated junk from a colleague, so that they lowered the price a lot for me ;D

I'm also with Symio and very happy today!! 650mb tariff and it doesn't go over 13€ a month, now that's true I spent a lot of money on a free phone but in the long run you come out ahead no matter how picky you are, and you can always import XP.
Now I'm rocking a motorola razr to see if I can take some pictures one day and stuff like that:facepalm:

I was with SIMYO until last July and I switched to Vodafone with flat rate @XS and I don't regret it at all.

SIMYO, put an average of 2 calls a day of 2 minutes (since one day maybe I wouldn't call and another day maybe I would call 4 times):

                                  (30*2) = 60 Calls a month.

                                  60 * 0.17 = 10.2€
                                  60 * 2 = 120 minutes
                                  120 * 0.06 = 7.2€

                                  TOTAL = 10.2€ + 7.2€ = 17,4€

To that we must add that they don't offer mobile phones.

                                  At Vodafone:

For 5€ more a month I had the one I have now: Sony Ericsson XPERIA NEO (0€) and the peace of mind of being able to make 20 calls a day of a few seconds without it affecting me at the end of the month as long as the duration of all the calls does not exceed 150min.

Another thing to keep in mind is that in SIMYO if you exceed 555Mb they charge you 3ct plus VAT for each Mb. At Vodafone they simply leave the speed at 128Kbps (more than enough for Whatsapp, a little browsing, facebook, etc).

                                  Regards!

Well, the issue of tariffs is clear that depending on each person's usage, one may be more interesting than another, especially the more we use it, the more we can amortize the flat rates they offer and if they give away minutes when calling another number from the same company.

That's why it's also important to look at the issue of permanence, and know that we are one of the European countries with the highest mobile tariffs <:( and at any time they are forced to put decent tariffs, but surely the one who has something signed stays as it was, because they are really something :ffu:

                                    Salu2!

I am still waiting but I think I will switch to Orange, because it doesn't have bad prices, and now they are starting to release very nice phones. In a few months there will be many new releases and since I am changing, I want a decent phone that will last me a few years, and especially if I switch to Orange with portability, it will be possible to get it at a price that I hope will be good.

Well, I had planned to return to Movistar as soon as my contract ended, but given what I've seen, it would be better to do as many as possible and if they don't work out, I'll stay with Yoigo, since I need the Movistar network anyway. I think for once I'll look more at the rates they offer than the phones.

This was the main reason why I switched to Orange, and we went all in with everything, 3 mobiles (3 lines) and Internet, because with all of this, in addition to donating old Ye mobiles, they discount the final price. The deal was as follows:
                                          • HTC One S - 189e
                                          • LG Optimus Black - 59e
                                          • LG Optimus L3 -59e
This was approximately 320e. And they deducted the following:
                                          • Each line -30, that is -90e
                                          • old mobiles -100e
                                          • ADSL -70e
And it all ended up at approximately 59e, which is not bad at all.
