Raspberry Pi

Well, for someone who, as you say, has created a very specific design and intends to offer it for commercial purposes, being able to manufacture the board yourself changes many things. And the other great thing about this is that, just like with Arduino, clones and derivatives will come out that implement new features in the hardware, and anyone who knows how can develop and sell them.

I bow to the Lego box you've made for him! I've been intending to make myself a Lego mod for years :troll: :ugly:
Regarding the Raspberry, the truth is that it's not bad at all. Where did you get it? How much?
Deeiivid, I bought it at "RS Components" and it cost me less than 40 euros including transport (I also bought an HDMI cable)
For now, it's perfect for me as a download server.
That said, the waiting list is several weeks long!

Well, the truth is that I'll have to look into it, it seems interesting.
As for me, I have an Atom that belonged to an Aspire One that had its screen broken and I was given what was left. The bad thing about it is that even though it's an Atom, it probably comes with a fan. I changed the heatsink so I could do without it, but the BIOS doesn't allow booting without a fan.But anyway, it's a thousand times better than my old :ugly: :ugly: mule p4 inside a folder file organizer.

The Raspberry Pi, now with 512 MB of RAM news on neoteo
-
I saw it yesterday. I'm just about to order one.
By the way, there are rumors that the next edition will come with a built-in webcam.
-
You're joking, right?

You're joking, right?
This new version has been talked about for a while in the corridors of electronic engineering. One of the options being considered was the inclusion of a small camera because the Raspberry is ideal for real-time image processing and is a very useful option for certain applications and cheap to implement.
Everything is rumors, but it would not be surprising that sooner or later the inevitable happens.
Edit: I have already ordered mine.

What's that?
-
¿El qué?
that the next edition will come with webcam included.
I think it is more or less "easy" to add one as of today and the more extras they add …. the more expensive it will be.
if they keep going like this, soon it will have sata connector and will stop being what it is originally "a toy" for big kids ;D

The truth is that the 512MB topic gives it much more margin to use it as a media player... With 256 it was a bit tight when you loaded the X's and other things.
In my case, as I only use it for the download server, I wouldn't notice much change from 256 to 512.
I had also read about the webcam. I think it's good that they sell it as an accessory, although I wouldn't include it in the basic package...

In the same way that they have doubled the memory at no extra cost, perhaps over time devices could be added at no extra cost: webcam, microphone, accelerometer... It would give it incredible possibilities, even if all that can be incorporated afterwards.
That way, without raising the price.
When it arrives, I will tinker with it to the maximum, but its final destination is to become my download server, replacing my PC#4

psgonza and cobito, you'll tell me how it goes with the torrents that I might catch one (that is, with a guide for dummies, please)
-
+1 for that guide for dummies and see how it goes, maybe I'll go for the 512 one.
Regards.

If I don't get too late (before December), I will try to make a guide "of my own".
-
I'm not much of a "documenting" kind of person (I do it for work reasons from time to time, and it drives me crazy ;)) but I can assure you that setting up a torrent client on the Raspi is a piece of cake.
I have no problem putting the necessary commands here if you're going to use them a few times. After all, it's a Debian and it's all very "common".
Anyway, here I leave you a page to install it with rutorrent...
Turn your Raspberry Pi into a small SeedBox for BitTorrent downloads | Incognitosis
I think that installing Apache and so many other things just for a torrent client doesn't make much sense, that's why I use transmission (which has GUIs) instead of ru-torrent.

My idea is to replace the server I have (now broken without a system disk)
Until now I had a "bare" xp with the download applications, the shared folders and the management by vnc or remote desktop
If there is an easy way to do it, I will think of it and "give" it to myself for Christmas

Mystique, I don't think you had any problem…
I had something like yours, a PC without monitor or keyboard or mouse, with a linux and running the download app, but the change is brutal. No more noises, no more big boxes.
You don't have to be a linux guru to set it up, although a "minimum" knowledge always helps of course.

Some fantastic gadgets to use as emulator hardware in an arcade machine. :osvaisacagar:
