Which budget smartphone to buy?

I know that for example the change from a normal semi-touch Samsung to an Xperia Miro is quite substantial. Then you have to adjust to your personal taste in terms of size and use, if you want to play around with it or dedicate it only to serious things and stuff.

I would recommend a second-hand Samsung.
If you can get a Mini 2, ACE 2 or even a Galaxy S. You may not think much of it now, but for me, a basic aspect for the future is the support of the developer community. There are a lot of smartphones that are 1 year and a half old, that have never updated (and never will). Among them, LGs are terrible in that aspect.With terminals like the Galaxy S or SII you have support assured for a few years.
As an example, I give you my Nexus One. A phone from 2010 and I have it with Android 4.2 and it works like a charm, Thanks to Google….no, thanks to the community.My advice is that. Low range Samsung. Mid range Samsung and Xperia. Don't even think about LG with chloroform. :wall:

I would look for an S2, or something with a dual core, 1GB of RAM would be ideal and have a decent screen, that's the basic to make everything run smoothly. I think for 100 or a little more you should find a used one for sure and even new.

Galaxy s with 3 years and updated to 4.2.2 from a chef. I would say that if I were to buy one, I would go for this one or a nexus One. Look for those that have chef updates.

A colleague told me that with the mini he's living in luxury and he's had it for 3 years. I've seen an Xperia Tipo for 90€ on H2M with a few months, I think it's overkill for me but you've scared me with the updates xD
Is the Tipo in that mid-range category? I suppose that by low-range we mean an S of those under 100€ new.

Refers to people who edit/program/modify (cook) roms for mobile phones. You can find the S2 second-hand for 150€, the Y300 (http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_ascend_y300-5386.php) which is also not bad for 126€ new (http://www.amazon.es/Huawei-Ascend-Y300-Smartphone-procesadores/dp/B00B92ZGY8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370858668&sr=8-1&keywords=huawei). The problem with the cheaper ones is that they limit you in many things, you can always make do, for example I have an LG Hub fixed as best as I can (with 4.1, the SD as internal memory, the cam has no drivers…) and it's functional but it's a puzzle.
I wouldn't recommend going below something like the Y300, 512MB of RAM, dual core, 4GB of internal memory, Android 4.1 and a relatively decent screen; the processor is not the latest model but okay. Less will give you many limitations.

Well the model I've seen comes unlocked (which is good because my dad will pick up the deal when the contract ends) and with Android 4.1, if you give your approval I'll go for 90 euros :ugly:

What do you mean exactly by limit? If it is that the colleague with the Mini tinkers quite a bit with the phone with a model from 3 years ago. For me it doesn't even seem like he has updated the System.

Let's see, the issue with internal memory limits the programs you can have installed, RAM will cause things to constantly close in the background, number of tabs when browsing, etc., the processor in the execution speed and if it's an old generation it won't let you run some apps like the Chrome browser, the OS limits you to access many apps and options like the wifi router, share via BT, etc., besides the latest versions run like a lightning. In short, I don't mind spending 300€ on something I use every day for a thousand things and as you say, to save a few bucks is silly. -
