Haswell-E in a year and with DDR4
-
Here's the news for you: Intel Demonstrates System with Haswell-E Microprocessor, DDR4 Memory - X-bit labs. I suppose they have released the Ivy-E to not leave the high-performance platform blank for another year while waiting to launch the X99 chip with DDR4. In any case, I imagine that the 6 or 8-core processors will continue to have exaggerated prices, so they won't be of much interest considering that by then we will be with the Broadwell, which, if they follow the dynamic, will yield something more and consume something less.
We'll see how DDR4 is introduced, how it affects the prices of the rest and if they include some advance of their successor Skylake.

What a mess these Intel ones are, I will change the motherboard if my SB-E is compatible which I doubt and if there are real improvements, if not I will switch to the new 1150 or whatever is out, to see if AMD gives me some joy, but I will not buy one of these ranges again. -
The truth is that I don't see too many applications for this platform in terms of performance/price ratio. Unless you need to run many threads on a single machine, it's better to have several Haswell towers working in parallel.

I have no personal need, it was just a tinkering thing and after 1366 I got excited but I've lost the desire to spend money like this.

Well, the advantages are more in RAM and PCI-E. Applications, then, for those who use multiple virtual machines or who set up 3 or 4 graphics cards, and I can't think of much else.

With the "weird" boards because of the USB issue (there's only one board with the bug fixed (as far as I know)) and the micros that are like ovens unless you polish it and have a good RL... I wouldn't even go for this platform, nor for Ivy to be honest, since SB they've gone downhill.. and with the crappy quality of CPU paste..
With that 3930k you have I'd wait for Haswell-E or the refresh of Haswell...

hello mates, at this point what intel processor is interesting in terms of quality price?
With this question I refer to your opinion, as I am looking to buy a processor at the beginning of the year.regards

hola compis, a estas alturas que procesador de intel es interesante relación calidad precio?
Con esta pregunta refiero a vuestra opinión, vistas a comprarme un procesador a principios de año.Que opciones barajas y para que (actualizar, nuevo pc, portátil…)?

Let's see if they stop with the nonsense about integrated and crap with IHS, we want an i5 x6 as max. 400€ with mainstream platform (board over 100 euros). That's when it will be worth making the jump from the 2500K (multiGPU cucumber aside).
On top of that, it will cost them to get it out, it will be a fucking i7

Salu2!

What options are you considering and for what (upgrade, new PC, laptop...)?
I currently have a second-hand laptop. But I will need a PC by the beginning of next year. Liquid cooling, etc. But something similar to the signature one because I had to sell it to be able to pay for courses, etc. If things go better, then I would build something similar, except for the processor which I could perhaps spend more on, or an equivalent in terms of performance-price ratio. But an updated platform. For what, probably web design, photoshop, dreamweaver, etc. Then as a hobby the benches and games, but that in the background, so the overclocking would only be for doing benches, the rest of the time factory.

Well for those dates you will have to look at a 4770k which would be the equivalent of what you had, unless you want to wait another year there is not much more alternative.
