How cute
Enjoy them! But a fact… Is it me or have the hateful and harmful turbine fans come back with a vengeance? :wall:

Uncle; you are an artist.
58º in idle; you have to fuck yourself. And on a bench table. My SLI 780 is at 28º in idle.

Congratulations Elp3 on the acquisition of that pair….:ugly:
You will share your impressions as soon as you can.
Greetings!!

This time you really outdid yourself, they haven't been released to the market and you already have them;D
I can't wait to see those good comparisons you've got us used to.
I hope you have the titans to face them :sisi:
Don't forget anything 1600p / surround / temperatures / sound and more
Regards.-

TITANES I have a few here..but I think there's little to compare in anything you comment on..mine some do up to 1246MHZ..with1,21V…and already from stock they take in almost everything to these. Temps, consumption, build quality etc..it's another world..just like the price,yes..but more than one will be surprised, and not for good,if amd maintains the starting price for the 24 that I am not yet authorized to say it,because they themselves don't know if they will maintain it or not..I think they shouldn't release them at that price, which as I say is very high..
Regards.

Well we have to wait then, I take a seat and enjoy the review, too bad I expected a lot from the R9 290X when they made the announcement (as we say pure and hard performance) but it seems that in the last days it has been from more to less and you will confirm us about it.
Regards.-

well if you say so I agree with everything... in the end I did well to buy the Asus Matrix 7970 for 290€ new two weeks ago... because they had me fed up with so much secrecy and smoke and mirrors... and when there is so much smoke something is going on. well nothing, to stay this year and next year to save up to make the jump to a 21:9 monitor... I'll get the 290X when they are at 300€ in 2015 ^^ -

In pure and hard performance, it seems superior to the GTX 780. What happens is several things as I can observe..
Temps desmedidas..
Excessive consumption..
Constructive quality and appreciable ínifima next to the GK110..
And above all, that they are very tight by default..as there is no meter that currently does it well, I don't know if they are really at 1000Mhz or if that is their base clock and then there is the turbo.La reality, is that for now, they only go up 100MHZ and not stable, there are flickers on the screen..and logically the GTX 780 comes more relaxed and can go up much more..
If to this, you add the supposed starting price in Spain, which I can't say, but it seems to be halfway between TITAN and 780…then to me the numbers don't add up of what the hell AMD wanted to do..it reminds me enormously of the 7990..
Regards.

The temperatures are solvable with water cooling kits, but you have to add 100€ and it gets more expensive
•EK-FC R9-290X - 92,95€
•EK-FC R9-290X - Acetal - 94,95€
•EK-FC R9-290X - Nickel - 104,95€
•EK-FC R9-290X - Acetal+Nickel - 105,95€
•EK-FC R9-290X - Nickel (Original CSQ) - 105,95€
•EK-FC R9-290X Backplate - Black - 26,38€the consumption in the end adds more cost over time and I think the GTX 780/Titan nvidia has worked hard on that aspect.
Just keep going and let AMD recalculate their strategy.-

What temperatures do you reach with the fan at full blast? How noisy is it?
I know it's not appropriate to have to put such an aggressive profile; but it's to know if the temps can be held in some way.
A hug

Well ELP3, I see that in the end you couldn't resist and you ended up testing those GPUs that have given us so much to talk about. It seems that the suspicions you told me about the consumption and its consequent temperature are confirmed, what a mess.
Greetings ;).

Well yes..oli…if 2+2 are 4...and if you want it to add up to 5..then you have to add 1 more..and that's what AMD seems to have added. Giving it their all without caring about the consequences..
Anyway we'll see if tomorrow I format everything, look for other more modern drivers and if Ono's 120Megas work so I can download..because with 3, as you can understand, there's no way..
A hug.
P.D.If you put the fan to buzz, the temps go down, of course..but it's the typical AMD reactor, that to see who's the brave one who can stand it even at 50%...it seems to me, that we'll have to wait to customize them or water cool them..there's no other way.

First of all, I'm glad to "see" you......... ;).
And then thank you very much for the firsthand info as always, and for being the first to post real data about the new AMDs, we've always said that firsthand data is better, especially in expert hands.......
There were doubts about whether the temperatures seen in leaked reviews were real or not, and from what it seems they are, other high-end graphics cards that need improved cooling or RLCs.....Of course, seeing that both companies are pushing the limit it's not surprising....
I'll follow the post to see if once formatted and with other drivers things change.......
Best regards.

Congratulations Elpe for that CF!
The 290x like the Titan/780 reference, the quality of both if you ni fa are not the same,"AMD Turbins" as some fellow said above..One is red, and the other black hehe.

What I think matters here, and I suppose you'll agree, is the performance of these, and what they will cost. Because the issue of temperatures, it's clear that it's because of the RPM of the fans..And I suppose they will fix this through drivers/bios. And well, it would be interesting if you did a review, and compared it with a Titan (in performance)..And nothing, I don't know why you keep buying AMD, if you always complain hehe. Is there any series that you liked?
Best regards and don't take it the wrong way.

I am very happy to read you here fellow countryman, your information is greatly appreciated. As always teaching the latest real results. Until now there were only rumors of these R9 290X but they have not been far off….
We will have to see how that CF behaves, see the lows, mediums and highs in the Benchs and above all what worries me the most about buying AMD is the famous "flickering".
Regarding the temps, I imagine that AMD will do something, because I imagine seeing these GPUs in the middle of summer at 100 Gº, which I don't know how far they can go but we will see more than one paperweight.
Of course we always have the option of mounting a water block as Patagonico commented, but what about the user who doesn't want R.L???
A hug and encouragement.

I am very happy ELP to see you again here, I don't know why but I knew you were going to show up with something like this xDDD, well regarding the gpus I think they have gone too far, they have wanted to release them so high so as not to fall short for the 780 which first by air is going to be impossible and second they are not going to go up much as I see , well mate let's see if we chat some day that I haven't seen you anywhere for a while
, I hope everything goes well for you a hug machine!!! ;D -
Hello everyone
A week ago I went back to N3D after almost a year (I've become a dad and now my priorities are different) and I was wondering where the hell some of you had gone. Fortunately, thanks to chupaita's post, I found out about the existence of this forum. I hope you're all doing well

To the point. Thanks for the preview Elp3. Last week I got back into tinkering and sold a couple of 670s to a coworker thinking about getting a 780 or a 290X depending on how they turned out. Looking at the situation, the prices of the 290x and the 780 DCu2, it seems to me that unless the 780Ti comes out with a lot of improvements, I'll go for the 780D Cu2.
