What do you think about Chinese mobiles

Wait for them to come out with a lollipop from the factory and you save yourself headaches, 5" minimum and the rest to your liking, the 13mp sony camera that they usually mount doesn't cost much and takes some very good photos, 2gb of RAM are also important. The interesting thing about the redmi is that it's dual sim, the Motorola that you will have updates for much longer. I would look for a xiaomi mi3 that they are now liquidating since the 4 has come out and it's for 200€ and it's still a great phone.

The moto g and the second generation one, what changes is what you comment and if I'm not mistaken, the new one has HD resolution. A friend has the first one and he uses it a lot with WhatsApp and it lasts him about 15 hours, giving it a lot of use with messaging and social networks, if you're not going to install much, those 8gb are enough for you, you'll have about half of it free.
Another phone that might be of interest is the Sony Xperia m2, but seeing Sony's update history... It goes a bit back. I'm also one of those who looks for autonomy and after having batteries of 3000 3200 mah, I don't go below that and that way I last at least a day, but they all last the same so I would choose by other factors.

So what I know about the Moto G is that there are 3 versions, someone tell me if I'm wrong, I'll talk about them and give you approximate prices from Amazon.

1st The version that could not expand the memory. The 8 Gigas left only 5 and something like that very little. Here you would be interested in the 16… but better to buy for something more the one they released in second place that is the same but with the possibility of expanding memory + 4G. 149€ the one with 8 Gigas... the one with 16 is worth more than 180-190

2nd They released the same, but 4G and you could expand the memory with a card up to 32 Gigas. For me this is the best for size and performance. 182€

3rd They released the 5" which is like the 2nd but... I think it doesn't have 4G. The resolution is maintained, and having a larger screen consumes more. 175€ You can also expand the memory. (Note that it has 5" but the same resolution as the 4.5") That is, it basically stretches the screen a little :ugly:

Of the 3 I would stay with the 2nd because it has a screen of a "moderate" size 4.5 because it expands the memory and because it has 4G.

Of Xiaomi I don't have it yet but I can tell you that it has a good community behind it, but if you care about it being updated, and you like Android almost pure (I don't know if Motorola puts crap in the mobile to be honest) then the Moto G is your mobile. It's the closest thing to a Nexus but cheaper and less powerful that you can buy in terms of sensations.

For me it doesn't matter that it's updated, I've been with Android 2.3 for almost 3 years and I only use the mobile for Whatsapp, some calls and at most read the mail or take a crappy photo to share on Whatsapp so in my case I prefer the Xiaomi because it came out cheaper than the Moto G and for the battery issue.

I ignore the battery composition, but when it comes I'll lower the speed to micro so it consumes less, I don't care if it goes slower and this way I'll increase something the autonomy.

The Moto G my friend's battery lasts almost two days without giving it much power to be honest, that will depend on your use but if you don't play or do intensive use you'll reach the night with more than enough charge in the mobile.

THE Moto G I think is your mobile, the GPS and all those little things work well. The only thing is that the camera is not a marvel, but for single photos it's not that bad. I'm not going to spend more on a mobile to have a better camera for photos, for that I use the Reflex :ugly: no matter how good a camera a mobile has it can't be compared to a Reflex unless the light conditions are very good in which case the mobile photos don't detract too much.

PD 2: Bm4n comments on the Xiaomi RedMi Note, but it has 5.5" for me that's very big, but 5" already seems big to me and in fact the Red Rice 1s The case has already arrived and it seems big to me... so it depends on your needs. I've been almost 3 years with a motorola with a 3.7 screen and happy because it was small and when I went running I carried it in my hand, but if you use the mobile a lot for gaming etc... 5" can be good for you. The Xiaomi RedMi Note the only thing is that it has 2 Gigas of Ram and facing the future it will take longer to become obsolete, but the Moto G runs very smoothly with only 1 Giga of RAM and has a good life expectancy for the future.

In my case 4.3 inches or at most 4.5 seem good to me, I don't need more. I would have loved the Red Rice to be smaller ¬¬

THE Moto G I've had in my hand and it seems to me that for 4.5" it's very well sized, it doesn't seem huge, but keep in mind that the "buttons" that other mobiles have in the casing under the glass, the Moto G has them inside the screen...

Well, I thought the new Moto G didn't have 4G, but apparently it does come with it as standard (it's really not well implemented, but better to have it just in case).
The only thing is that they could have called it Moto G 2, or something else, since they confuse people. Just in case, so they don't sell it to you, the box says “2nd generation”… keep an eye on that.

About the Xiaomi, well, I had no idea about this brand until a coworker bought a Red Rice 1S, frankly I thought it was very nice and quite versatile. I trust this coworker since he's a programmer, and he tinkers all day and did his research well when he bought it. I really liked the Xiaomi MI3, but well.
What holds me back about the two you mentioned is the issue of having 1 GB of memory, my Xperia S has that and it's getting tighter and tighter.
Another phone I like is the BQ Aquaris E5 FHD, and more so being able to get it directly from the provider, I've had it in my hands and it weighs little and comes with “pure” Android.

I have a Moto G (XT1039), that is, it has 4G/LTE, 8GB and micro-SD slot.

I don't have 4G service with my carriers ¬¬, but the theory is that in addition to higher speed, it should be easier to maintain good coverage, and the battery wouldn't drain as fast as with 3G.

I have a moto g first version of 8gb and delighted.

I think that with this terminal there is nothing that cannot be done, the battery lasts very well, a clean interface without frills, updated software...

For me the most important thing is to choose the screen size well, for the rest, the moto g are more than enough for 99% of people.

As for the xiaomi, I simply think that the interface is very loaded and with additions that I do not need, in addition to the fact that the motorola are sold officially in Spain.

The truth is that the only thing that holds me back is the 1 GB issue, but if it's well optimized, it's sure to perform better than my Xperia S with the same memory.

I really push my phone to the limit watching TV and YouTube. Then I also listen to music sometimes, messages, and browse a little... and sometimes I even make calls :troll::troll:

I think it's the phone I've used the most in general, and I'm delighted... but Sony's update issue is enough to make you angry.
The funny thing is that I saw that the Z series does get updated to Android version 5 :wall::wall:

Who knows, but a future replacement for my beloved Sony could be the new Moto G... :love:

I wouldn't worry too much about the camera, since like you, to take good photos you go with the real camera, and for a specific case of a quick one, it's more than enough.

Trust well in the differences of the Old Moto G and the new one, because there are several very important details:
Larger screen size, although I have the impression that you prefer 4.5”.
Two front speakers, front one rear.
4G, although there is a version with LTE of the old model.
MicroSD for the new one, something that I think is a great point in favor.
Better rear and front camera.

Costing the same, I don't see more reason than the screen size to opt for the 2013 model, but I think that the issue of MicroSD and the camera is a big handicap.
Anyway, both are good mobiles and if the 4.5" one is enough for you, great

Just to say that the 2014 Moto G has two versions, one of 4.5" and another of 5.0". The 4.5" one has 4G and the other does not. Personally, I prefer the 4.5" one more than for 4G because the battery lasts a bit longer and because 4.5" is enough for me.

Otherwise, both are very good mobiles for costing less than 200€ and about the Giga of memory… If motorola made them with 2 Gigas it could eat market share from other mobiles like the Moto X. Otherwise, I messed around with the 4.5" one and it was very fluid, it was a pleasure, if you are not one for putting hundreds of applications on the mobile and loading it to the hilt, with 1 Giga it should go very fluidly.

It's one thing that the Moto G 4G is an update of the previous model, adding 4G and microSD reader, and another to discuss its release date, which is June 2014 :troll:

Personally, I still say that for someone who buys thinking it will last a while, it's a good investment, because of the 4G and compatibility with the latest versions of Android.

When I bought it in August, the first thing it did as soon as it turned on was to update to KikKat (4.4), and now that the version Lolllipop (5.0) is out, it is one of the confirmed models that will have an official update from the manufacturer (Motorola).

For those who need a lot of power in the mobile, large screens, and change it in a short time, it is probably a better option a supercharged Chinese mobile, even if it doesn't have 4G.

To decide the size of the memory I have based on a precedent: my tablet. It has 4 Gb of which you can use just under 3 Gb. After 10 months of use, with all the apps I usually use installed (including some heavy games), multimedia content exchanged on Whatsapp, some downloads, etc., today I have around 500Mb free.

In reality the only thing I doubt is the 4G issue, because for memory I know I won't have problems.

The problem with mobiles (and everything) is that for a little more you have something more and for another little more something else more… Initially I was looking at the Moto E which for screen size is the one that feels most comfortable to carry in my pocket, but there yes, 4Gb seem like too few to me. For a little more I got one with 8Gb (I was undecided between the Red Rice 1S and the Moto G which in that aspect are the same) and with 8Gb I know I will have a mobile for a good season (if it lasts a couple of years I will consider that it has given me good service).

I could have gotten the 16 one, but instead of that, the 4G for the same price as you said. Then I would have started to think about the convenience of having 16Gb integrated along with 4G, because the cards are really a pain when it comes to putting certain applications for example. And then perhaps my curiosity would have been piqued by a 3000mAh battery to not miss the autonomy of my old mobile so much and, who knows, maybe even have a 1080p screen to have the highest pixel density possible or 2 Gb of RAM to not have problems with fluidity... :ugly:

I have decided to stop at the Moto G 2013 of 8 Gb.
