It also seems that you have to be registered with Microsoft as a developer or something like that, although we already know that this is usually not a problem.

For my part, I will see how their applications and the community develop to see if it is worth it, since I have a NAS, an AM1 HTPC, and I don't get into electronics, although it calls to me.

The Raspberry is a cost-effective solution, you have to spend more time setting it up to get the most out of it, but you save a few hundred euros. For those of us who like this, it's a good hobby. Although I've become very comfortable and I don't change my NAS and my HTPC are powerful, comfortable and compact, but they have also cost a lot more...

That's exactly what happens to me, I stopped testing and I got myself a Synology and the ITX HTPC that I upgraded this summer.

The new raspberry doesn't like photos with xenon flash. The device turns off if a photo is taken without its casing, due to the
photoelectric effect on a power component. http://www.cronicaglobal.com/es/notices/2015/02/al-nuevo-raspberry-pi-2-no-le-gustan-las-fotos-con-flash-de-xenon-16014.php

It's curious, I read it in a forum about retro topics and I was shocked.

The truth is that I would prefer if they stopped vitaminizing the processor and stopped including peripherals to change the ethernet interface and its ridiculous 100Mbps to a Gigabit network as they have been doing for quite some time now others like Hardkernel with their Odroids of the same $35.

Even so, it is a very interesting version and the advances in the 3D drivers of the VideoCore IV make Raspberry Pi a board with a promising future.

I find the WiFi thing very interesting, because you always have to add a lot of extras to the RaspberryPi that complicate the assembly of everything and make it more expensive, but it is true that the ethernet port limits its use as a NAS among other things.

I still use one of the first ones with 256Mb and if I don't get a more modern one it's because I haven't yet made the most of the old one. If later I try something and it falls short, or I need an additional one, I'll be encouraged to acquire one.

I was going to comment on the Odroid alternative but I see that Cobito has already mentioned it, it really seems that it is more cost-effective than the Raspberry, right? Although I imagine that in terms of support the Pi eats it.

ODROID-C2 is an alternative to Raspberry Pi 3, faster and with double the memory

It depends. The problem with ODROID is that it integrates the Mali 400 graphics chip that has been around since 2012 without Linux support. It works well on Android but if you want to use graphics acceleration on Linux, ODROIDs are a bad option. On the other hand, the Raspberry Pi's VC is starting to be functional in Mesa and work is still being done on it, so the board could end up being an option even for playing half-decent games.

For the rest of the hardware, the hardkernel option outperforms the raspberry.

PD: In case anyone considers it relevant, Raspberry Pi boards are assembled in the UK and I assume that ODROIDs are made in China. That is probably a decisive factor in the difference in performance/price ratio that both options have had from the beginning.

They have released a new Raspberry Pi Zero with Wifi and Bluetooth for supposedly $10. The chip for wireless connections is the same as the one used in Raspberry Pi 3, so the behavior in this aspect should be the same.

                                  Source.
