Does anyone have the SOUND BOARD ASUS XONAR PHOEBUS sound card?
-
I'll explain, I have the PC connected to a receiver. The thing is that the receiver is 7.1 but unfortunately for me the multichannel output only offers 5.1 sound input and it bothers me because I was used to my Sound Blaster S750 which had 7.1. Anyway, I wanted to keep that bad habit of hearing games that way and unfortunately my XFi ELite pro card has optical output but it's only in stereo, to laugh at.
In short, I understand that the SOUND BOARD ASUS XONAR PHOEBUS sound card has 7.1 optical output but as I don't trust it anymore I would like some owner to confirm it.
Thanks for reading me until here. -
It seems that the one with 7.1 is the "Phoebus Solo" model, right? At least on the internet, I don't see anything about 7.1 in the model you mentioned.

First of all, thank you. If I visited Asus and it says 7.1. But understand me, when I bought the XFi Elite pro card it also said 7.1 but after years I found out that it only does it analogically, I mean by cables and that it has optical input and output and optical input and output. But the latter only work in stereo. Imagine the surprise when I connect the home to the optical output and it is only stereo. Anyway, thank you for taking the trouble to look for the card.
Look, here is the manual. Forgive my insecurities but I have already mentioned them before. The problem is that the game only puts sound in multichannel. I understand that the card also emits multichannel sound through optical/spdif

@Sylver I invoke you! xD

I thought the optical output is digital and therefore you send the sound you want and however you want, it would be very strange if they limited that...

Ok Thanks to all.

Hello,
First of all, I personally do not have that sound card, I have an external M-Audio FastTrack Pro.
From what I have researched, that card perfectly supports 7.1 sound systems, both through a speaker system and through a sound system with an amplifier (as in the diagram).
The important thing there is the Toslink adapter, since without it it is impossible for you to connect the optical cable.
Best regards

Many thanks @Sylver, and well, to everyone for helping me decide.

Well, I can tell you that I finally bought the card. The thing is, I'm installing it and it needs a PCie power supply, and for that, it has a dual molex to connect it to two connectors on the power supply. The molex is similar to the one for hard drives, I wonder if I should connect both or just one. I don't want to fry it by doing it wrong before I even turn it on. It seems a bit strange to me that I have a dual molex. Honestly.

I assume you mean that it brings an adapter like this:

Connect them without fear, it needs both to work properly. I use the same adapter in several of my computers to power the graphics.

Thank you very much. I have indeed managed to get it working and the sound card is functioning. The problem is that it is a shame that after buying it, the optical output only emits in stereo for games. So I can't enjoy it at home except in 5.1 and it is a shame.

It seems that it may have a solution

Thanks for your reply. The card works with optical output if I put a movie with Dolby on it. But on the other hand, the games only emit digital sound through the graphics card but not through the sound card. Which is quite funny. I have tried it with several games and there is no way if I want 5.1 or 7.1 it does it in analog form but not in digital form. To make matters worse, my receiver is 7.1 but in multichannel, analog, it only has 5.1.
Well people say I am being too picky about this but damn if I can enjoy something why can't they let me enjoy it.
I appreciate your contributions.
By the way Dolby Digital live is no longer marketed so I can't buy it. If mine is pathetic. -
@qvengador sorry, the truth is that I have no way to test to help you, I swear there is some way to do the passthrough of the audio to the spdif of the card today. I recommend that you continue looking for information in English that you will find more.
The DDL (https://www.dolby.com/us/en/technologies/dolby-digital-live.html) that they talk about in the link is supposed to be a capability that allows the card to convert the sound of the game to Dolby on the fly so that your amp could listen to it via spdif. And what they say is that apparently it is not yet compatible with W10, as I say there is probably some other convoluted solution, but if not you may have to wait for them to make the drivers compatible. The fact is that you do not have to buy another card, the xonar is compatible with DDL and your amp with dolby so you do not need more.

@Bm4n I will look into those lines of research. Thanks for the post, I had already given up but this opens up new paths for me. Thanks again.

I want to share with you my great joy at achieving the sound in AC3. Without your help I would not have managed to get it. Just as you told me, I managed to find the dobe digital live and it already works thanks.
