        I thought the optical output is digital and therefore you send the sound you want and however you want, it would be very strange if they limited that...

            Hello,

            First of all, I personally do not have that sound card, I have an external M-Audio FastTrack Pro.

            From what I have researched, that card perfectly supports 7.1 sound systems, both through a speaker system and through a sound system with an amplifier (as in the diagram).

            The important thing there is the Toslink adapter, since without it it is impossible for you to connect the optical cable.

            Best regards

                Well, I can tell you that I finally bought the card. The thing is, I'm installing it and it needs a PCie power supply, and for that, it has a dual molex to connect it to two connectors on the power supply. The molex is similar to the one for hard drives, I wonder if I should connect both or just one. I don't want to fry it by doing it wrong before I even turn it on. It seems a bit strange to me that I have a dual molex. Honestly.

                  @qvengador

                  I assume you mean that it brings an adapter like this:

                  alt text

                  Connect them without fear, it needs both to work properly. I use the same adapter in several of my computers to power the graphics.

                  Regards

                    Thank you very much. I have indeed managed to get it working and the sound card is functioning. The problem is that it is a shame that after buying it, the optical output only emits in stereo for games. So I can't enjoy it at home except in 5.1 and it is a shame.

                        Thanks for your reply. The card works with optical output if I put a movie with Dolby on it. But on the other hand, the games only emit digital sound through the graphics card but not through the sound card. Which is quite funny. I have tried it with several games and there is no way if I want 5.1 or 7.1 it does it in analog form but not in digital form. To make matters worse, my receiver is 7.1 but in multichannel, analog, it only has 5.1.
                        Well people say I am being too picky about this but damn if I can enjoy something why can't they let me enjoy it.
                        I appreciate your contributions.
                        By the way Dolby Digital live is no longer marketed so I can't buy it. If mine is pathetic.

                          @qvengador sorry, the truth is that I have no way to test to help you, I swear there is some way to do the passthrough of the audio to the spdif of the card today. I recommend that you continue looking for information in English that you will find more.

                          The DDL (https://www.dolby.com/us/en/technologies/dolby-digital-live.html) that they talk about in the link is supposed to be a capability that allows the card to convert the sound of the game to Dolby on the fly so that your amp could listen to it via spdif. And what they say is that apparently it is not yet compatible with W10, as I say there is probably some other convoluted solution, but if not you may have to wait for them to make the drivers compatible. The fact is that you do not have to buy another card, the xonar is compatible with DDL and your amp with dolby so you do not need more.

                              I want to share with you my great joy at achieving the sound in AC3. Without your help I would not have managed to get it. Just as you told me, I managed to find the dobe digital live and it already works thanks.
