      hello everyone.
first I explain and then I ask ;D
yesterday I volunteered (big mistake) to change the hard drive of a family member's PC (a very simple thing, open sides take out the drive (ide) take out ide cable, take out power cable (molex) (the PSU is modular) mount new drive (sata) connect power cable and connect sata cable to PB.
      CHUPADO :wall:
the tower is a NOX coolbay (with side fan)
I connected the molex of the side fan to another molex (an extension or something)
I closed the covers connected the power cables and etc and …....
      MESSED UP :wall:
the tower beeps like crazy and does nothing, I automatically turn off the PC using the PSU switch
I remove the side (disconnect the fan to work more comfortable) disconnect the hard drive and press the power button......
all fans spin it doesn't beep like crazy (just one beep) but, black screen :llorar:
I disconnect everything (hard drives etc) nothing, black screen.
IDEA this is the power connector of the graphics card that will be half loose
I tighten it, I try again and everything is the same.
CRAZY measures I'm so nervous, I decide to unplug the GPU's power supply, I try and.... it beeps like a desperate :wall:
without memory modules it also beeps
I disassemble the computer (graphics card and memories) I test them in my PC and :
I'm using the memories now (well, just one ;D)
the graphics card is a GTS250 black screen :wall:
and my PSU is a valeo of 700W and I have a GTX660 and before a GTX 280 (I say this so you don't think it's because of lack of power)
externally it's fine (I don't see anything burned) the only thing is that the part of the heatsink is....like the lungs of a smoker (note that I also smoke, but not next to my computer)
clarify that on Monday and Tuesday I was using that PC and it worked perfectly (except the hard drive)
      any suggestions?
thank you very much for reading the long story but..... I don't know how to sum it up ;D
      regards

you must tell us what the beeps are like, as this is an important piece of information, whether it is a short or long beep, or if there are 2 short beeps etc.

I think it could be 2 things, one that you may have touched the RAM memory without meaning to and it is not properly placed, and 2 that you may have touched something on the motherboard or you may not have discharged the static electricity, which can damage some components if the motherboard is not of good quality.

Above all I THINK it is that, without more data I can't tell you anything else

          hello
a short beep is what the motherboard does, a short beep is usually on all the boards I've had that the system is OK and starts loading the OS
the computer in question the first time it beeped (like crazy) I suppose it was because of a cross between the fans (because thank god, I think I assembled a re-recorder correctly (without putting cables the wrong way around (a very difficult thing to do))
the second time was when I removed the power supply of the graphics card (which indicates that it has no power)
and when I removed the RAMs it beeped because it had no RAM
          more suggestions ;D
          greetings and thanks

the first thing before touching a computer is to touch something metallic with your hands, in case you have a lot of static charge for whatever reason, it can give you a shock,
and when it fails and you don't know why, disassemble everything, clean it and check all connections and fans
I can't tell you more from here, it's hard to guess, but these things happen

                  regards

And are you sure the computer was working before you messed with it?
Besides, and as MaxLG said, the beeps are important, unfortunately "like crazy" doesn't come up with anything.
Look at the graphics card. Take it out and put it in another computer, it could be that the port or the graphics card itself are no longer operational.
Oh, and better than the power button on the motherboard, is to unplug the cable.
                    Keep us posted.

Start with the basics (micro, memory, graphics and power supply) and see if it gets to the BIOS post. If you see that by touching those components you can't get it to work, reset the BIOS from the motherboard's jumper/button and try again. This usually solves more than one problem.

When you solve this, then add the hard drive and test the boot. When the boot is successful, test the disk drives, to see if it's a problem with the burner in question.

I recommend that you do not connect any fans to the power supply during the entire resuscitation process, except for the one on the micro's heatsink but it will go to the board. Wait to resolve the problem before connecting them.

                      Regards

                        @whoololon:

                        Mantennos informados.

                        @Sylver:

                        @Franziskaner:

                        hola a todos.
desconecto Todo ( discos duros etc ) nada, pantalla negra.

                        saludos y gracias

That looks like a GTS250 that has gone to a better place.
Try the opposite, your GPU in the other machine; if it doesn't work, and when you put it back in your machine it does, it could well be the FA or the motherboard.

I take it that it's the graphic (in a certain post I comment that I plugged it into my PC and it doesn't give a signal (black screen)

I reiterate again since I already smelled it from afar

                                      thanks for the contribution.

                                      regards to all and thanks

the thing ended in the following way, I disassembled the graphics card, heatsinks, fans and such, cleaned everything well and applied new thermal paste (the GPU did not show visible damage)
I mounted the graphics card in my PC and nothing
I mounted the graphics card in the second and third PCI ports and left my graphics card in place and it never recognized it (in the second PCI port for a while it indicated that it was connecting the two PCI ports but it did nothing)
                                        in summary: sudden death
greetings and thanks to everyone for the help

You've got one of the bad G92s, it already happened in laptops and also desktop graphics cards that some had sudden death, although many G80s have also died, it will be the temperature that ends up melting them, or perhaps that nvidia applied programmed obsolescence, who knows.

                                          greetings

I have to tell you that after I thought the Franziskaner graphics card was dead, I cleaned the fan and wiped the board with a cloth dampened in pharmacy alcohol and it works :wall::wall::wall:.
All that remains is to thank everyone for your wise advice;D;D
The bad thing is that I have already bought the replacement, we will see if Revolution returns the money or what policy they follow.
