well, here's a preview of Windows 8 courtesy of GURU 3D and Microsoft

This is 100% legitimate software and does not require a key
you can download the ISO, burn it to a DVD and install the operating system

The features and functionality in the preliminary version of the software may not appear in the final version.
Some product features and functionality may require advanced or additional hardware, or the installation of other software.

      CONTENTS OF THE ISO
      64-bit Windows 8 development preview
      Windows SDK for Metro-style apps
Microsoft Visual Studio Express for Windows 11 Developer Preview
Microsoft Expression Blend 5 Developer Preview
Metro-style apps like the BUILD Conference app

It will have improvements with HTML5 and JavaScript, and will also come with Internet Explorer 10 (only compatible with Windows 8).

The new operating system will be designed so that all Microsoft platforms can
run on it (PCs or personal computers, mobile phones, electronic tablets or tablets and
      XBox consoles).

It comes with two interfaces, the traditional one and Metro, a mosaic of icons, dynamic and adaptable in size,
which will work on mobiles, tablets, ultraminiportátiles (ultrabooks) and on the classic personal computers.
The user can switch from one interface to another depending on the device they are using or the task they are performing.

Windows 8 is fully compatible with its predecessor.
All current applications will continue to work on the new operating system,
which also consumes less memory and starts in just 8 seconds, according to Microsoft.

Another highlight of Windows 8 is security, which allows you to automatically reject a
suspicious application, based on the database "updated" by Microsoft and its technological partners.
Windows 8 will also be an exportable system. A company can provide its employee with a USB stick
with the system copied in full so that they can continue their tasks outside the corporate computer.

Microsoft plans to start support for the so-called "Windows 8" on July 1, 2011.
It is also specified that support for a hypothetical "Windows Server 2012" will begin on July 2, 2012.

      Windows 8 Developer Preview * ISO * (32bit) 2.82Gb

      Windows 8 Developer Preview * ISO * (64bit) 3.63Gb

Beta version of Windows 8 for developers, which can be downloaded for free.
It does not require activation, but it expires on November 3, 2012. It is recommended to install it on a virtual machine.

      Windows 8 64-bit Preview ISO download from Guru3D.com (64bit) 4.83Gb

Apart from the change in the graphical interface, what technical improvements does it incorporate compared to W7?

          :D:D:D:D:D Any technical improvements? :D:D:D:D:D
          No comment :nono:
P.D I take it for granted that in a few years we will laugh at that question, and we will surely be on version 10 ;D

P.D 2 That it will start up in just 8 seconds, with what equipment?

Killing two birds with one stone, eh? ;D
I think this year all OS tend only to multiplatform…and nothing more (or less). With so many new powerful gadgets, whoever doesn't do it is left out.

The USB stick with the system inside will have to be seen how it behaves with disparate hardware. It seems that it has nothing new; just an improvement in system loading and memory efficiency.

By the way, I don't understand what MS is playing at with Internet Explorer. Do they want to finally kill it off by making it only usable on Windows 8? I think it's ridiculous.

I don't even use Windows (well yes, for games), but I think it's essential that there is a good repertoire of browsers and Microsoft seems not to have realized that fewer and fewer people use their browser, let alone putting obstacles to its use.

I don't know. But I have the impression that Windows 8 is going to be as bad as Windows Vista and Windows Millennium were in their time, with a ton of incompatibilities, hundreds of crashes, and especially slow.

If it's at least equal to w7, good for them. Torvalds said that Linux had things to learn from Microsoft's last OS. If the boot time is 8 seconds, even better (although I think this will only be on portable devices like tablets)

After the good job they did with w7, they're not going to mess it up now

                          Regards!

Windows 7 is a good system, worthy of succeeding Windows XP. W8 is an evolution of W7 with a change in the interface (Metro) and oriented, as already mentioned, to multiplatform.
I'm not saying they can't make mistakes, but I doubt it will be a failure, it will simply be a natural evolution of W7, adapting to the times we live in.

Anyway, until we try a beta version, we can't draw any deeper conclusions, because this version is super green and is more oriented for developers to get in touch with the system and start having a base for third-party software development.

I tried it on a virtual machine, and it took me a lot of trouble to get it to start xD Also, it gave me a blue screen (they modified its appearance). It detected several errors and asked me to report them to Microsoft, which I accepted to help solve problems, which I think is another mission of the Alpha and Beta versions.

Regarding IE 10, being only compatible with Windows 8, I also see it as a mistake that only makes IE used less and favors the competition, I don't know why they don't at least give minimum support to W7, which is already quite widespread.
Anyway, lately I've been perplexed because you open IE 9, or Firefox 6 or Chrome (not the latest version) and they are practically the same in appearance.

Windows XP is still fine for most tasks, but it is not suitable for gaming. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but the TCP/IP stack in Windows Vista onwards (Windows NT 6.x), works considerably better than that of Windows XP.

An XP is somewhat outdated, especially with Ubuntu, Fedora and others that are much more modern systems and, along with Wine, compatible with many Windows programs, obviously for free. W7 is a magnificent system, if OSX is ahead in something it is the friendly aspect it has and a greater simplification of common tasks in that Microsoft should work... but let's not kid ourselves, they are not going to fall off their high horse.

But this first aspect of W8 in my opinion is horrendous, and the squares in the version for nets seem taken from another era, they should learn from OSX Lion or Android 3.0 that both give it a thousand kicks. Right now my only reason to use Windows is for games.

I am using Windows 7 Professional x64 and it works wonderfully for me. I have no plans to switch to Windows 8. Although, even today, for certain programs I must use Windows XP, Windows 7 has Virtual PC (Windows XP mode) which works wonderfully for me. Especially when I have to use Visual Basic 6.0 for programming.

I wonder if Windows 8 will also have that Virtual PC, if it will be as reliable as Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 7, or if it will suffer the same fate as Windows Millenium and Windows Vista.
