BlackMod V.2.0

Well, as you have seen in my mod of the /J07, it got very tight with all the components, plus the idea of water cooling the graphics, made the small case indisputable, so the Version 2.0 of the BlackMod was born.

This work is an evolution of a mod by a colleague, "pakito";). A hug… The idea is to remodel a handmade case, and paint it with a special paint, the kind used to paint car engines, which gives volume to the paint.

Painting process of the "new case".

As I mentioned before, painting the case with that paint was not a normal process, after painting it, I had to put the pieces in an oven at 2 to 200º. I had an oven prepared waiting a few minutes from home, to take the pieces, but at the last moment the oven failed. So the drying process has been homemade and laborious.

But let's get on with today's work..

First, to the Cristal Mod, (from now on BlackMod V2.0) I removed the carbon vinyl front sticker.

Sorry for the quality of the photos, they are made with the phone, to walk around with paint, radial and heavy machinery, it didn't seem like a good idea to carry a good camera.

Then we created the space to locate the 2nd power supply for all the hardware.

With the piece cut, we sanded a little to leave the cut fine.

And we prepared the piece to paint

Well as I mentioned before, this paint needs a high temperature drying process. As the oven where this process was going to be done let me down a bit. We improvised a manual drying.

In some images you will see how the paint goes from liquid to textured solid. Having to dry the pieces with a hair dryer and a stove is perfectly seen…...........xD.

That's all in the painting process, the case can't be touched until 24 hours have passed for the paint to cure, after that it will be indestructible…..................xD!!

I have more ideas for it, but little by little;), I know you like the suspense...........!!

Well, here I consider the case assembly concluded. It still has some modifications left, which are already finished too. But I'm saving them for the final photos ;), when I put all the components in.

Well, taking it step by step, before cleaning the basement of my house, I wanted to leave you some images of what the "workshop" of this Mod has been like. Except for the painting of the case, the rest has been done here, luckily my wife doesn't come downstairs...xD.

I already have the girls waiting for the "christening dress"..........xD.

In the end, I got different PCI brackets to put in the slots that are left free.

The ones I like the most are the perforated ones, besides the fact that they help with ventilation.

Tomorrow, if nothing goes wrong, I will have everything I need to finish the equipment. As always, I will put the final result at this hour, and it will be in a new thread. I think the "birth" of the creature deserves it. In that thread, I will continue with the updates that I already have planned, but I'm leaving out......

I'm craving a PC, the TJ07 was in operation for 15 days, so imagine that since November I've been planning it, I think I've already entertained myself enough with modding, I want a season of Vice............xD.

Well, I've understood from good experience that haste is not a good companion....................xD.

Last night I was up until 4 in the morning trying to finish the equipment, but it was completely impossible. As we all know, when one thing doesn't work, another doesn't, and it always fails the least expected. Even so, I corrected the errors that I kept finding and made a little progress.

I still need to put the graphics cards that I already have with their blocks, reorganize a little the cable jungle of 2 power supplies............xD. And that's with modular ones!!!

But I won't touch the PC again until next Monday. Anyway, I'll leave you some images.............. ;).

The truth is that this case is very imposing, and I will miss it, maybe I will never work as much on a case as I did with this one. But you know I'm an restless person, and I'm always looking for the perfect component, if there is one.;).

I'm glad to think that it's in very good hands now.. ;).

Jajajaa, Thanks Obione, it's true that I skip the performance/price ratio, but also think that I play in surround, and that requires a lot of machine, that with less you can also play in surround, yes, but not at full detail and above 60fps. And when you get used to the good stuff, it's hard to get used to less.;)

The first time I saw your Mod I was surprised, but I hadn't seen in detail that it was all made by you, including the case and everything else. The truth is, what a detail to put in so much information and photos.

Well you shouldn't be afraid to start the section, that way you'll be a pioneer, I change many fans and things like that but always looking for better ventilation to increase the CPU or memory a bit, to gain performance, I would like to be like you guys and be able to design a custom computer, anyway maybe in the future when Haswell comes out and I have to change my computer maybe I'll put it in a new case and see how it fits, I don't think I'll put in liquid cooling because in the end I remove a lot of things and it's harder for me, besides they are expensive.

But at least I'll put it in another section either CPU or motherboard so that we can have information about OC for Haswell.

Ah… Ok, Si, before posting the threads, I saw something about that, but it's a shame that they are not maintained. For example, this thread and the one about the Tj07, I won't update them anymore, among other things because I don't have them anymore.........xD.

If they were maintained they would stay forever and would help other users to get ideas, from here I make a call to Moderation, to see if that is possible...

It's not the first one in the section (the first post is from 2004)

Within each subforum, when all the posts come out, you have a filter to configure the view. Where it says "from" you put "always" and you click the show button (show threads) so that everything comes out.

The default option, if I'm not mistaken, is one year. This way, searches for old posts are not done unnecessarily
