      Hello comrades...
      A quick question ?
I have my pc with an i5 2500K processor, 16 gb of memory, it's already a few years old, but it works wonderfully.
I would like to upgrade my graphics, I already know that any modern card won't do.
Which one do you recommend so that I don't have bottlenecks?
      I've seen this GTX980-GTX ?

      Thank you very much!!!

With that CPU you will soon have a bottleneck I think, especially if you play at 1080p.
I recommend this page to play a bit with the configurations: https://pc-builds.com/bottleneck-calculator/

For the GTX 980 in particular it gives the following result:

          @krampak I personally don't trust PC-Builds much.

Back in the day, for that same configuration with an RX 580 (a bit more powerful than the GTX 980) it indicated that the bottleneck was 0% and that both components would work very well together.

In fact, shortly after I calculated the bottleneck of my i7 2600K along with an RX 5700 XT, and it indicated that it would be a maximum of 4% (this is the configuration I currently have).

Months later, checking the same configurations, the bottlenecks skyrocket or vary without sense. I don't quite understand what it's due to, but I suspect it has to do with the information that users manually enter about their equipment.

In this case, I would recommend looking at specific videos on Youtube of the real performance in games using the different combinations that are proposed. It is usually quite more reliable in terms of final results.

          ¡Saludos!

@Sylver I agree with you. I think the bottleneck is overrated.

However, with that CPU you will have performance issues with many graphics cards, even if the graphics card is working at 100%.

I would say that you buy the graphics card you can and need, always thinking about the monitor you have, and when you can change the CPU if you need it. If you don't need it, then don't change it. But don't stress too much either.

hello, what motherboard do you have? because with that processor you have pcie 2.0 and depending on the motherboard, you could put a series 3 processor that has dropped in price and you increase the pcie to 3.0 in addition to supporting faster memories, and a 3770 is always better and cooler than a 2600
don't worry about the bottleneck, you can put up to a 2060 if the motherboard supports that processor upgrade. I use a xeon equivalent to the 3770 with 32gb at 1833mhz and a 1650 of 4gb ddr6 as a game server for some friends and as a PLex server for my family.
