For the past few days, the forum has been part of the fediverse. With this new feature, we are introducing the first piece of the forum's integration with Peertube.

From now on, you will see threads in the forum featuring a summary of selected videos from our Peertube instance. You can reply to these threads, and your replies will automatically appear on the corresponding Peertube video, and vice versa, allowing you to interact with platform users directly from the forum.

Unfortunately, NodeBB is still a bit inexperienced in this area. In fact, this message exchange capability is something I specifically requested from the developers, and they kindly implemented it in the latest version.

For now, federated threads do not appear in either the recent threads or unread threads lists. Additionally, the first post of the thread only displays the description, not the video itself. This integration has already been requested, and the feature to embed the video in the first post has already been implemented and will be released in the next version. Making federated threads behave like regular threads, however, seems like it will take longer.

In the meantime, to give these threads visibility and allow you to participate from the forum if you're interested in the topic, our esteemed intern @HIAL-9000 will be posting updates in this very thread, each containing the video and a link to the corresponding forum thread where you can join the discussion. Please note that there is a delay of a few minutes between when a thread appears in the forum and when the video summary is displayed.

This is an experimental feature. We are currently running style tests to ensure the text formatting works well for discussions and comments, and there is no set criterion yet for video selection.
