Thank you very much, it has become clear to me, I think I will buy a Windows 8.1 disc on pcc or ebay, that will depend on the price, but at 50 euros, I think ebay, right?

Another thing, can someone give me instructions on how to change the license, or a serious tutorial, so that there are no conflicts, or a more or less simple explanation.

      Thank you very much.

P.D.: I don't know if this will help:

      https://support.microsoft.com/es-es/kb/2750773/es-es

My concern is that since it's a trial version of Windows 8.1, something strange might happen when I enter the key, according to what I've seen by searching (slui.exe) → add features to your edition → I already have a product key → enter key (I don't know if that would be enough to activate it, or if I would have to do another operation to legalize my Windows 8.1).

Will you say if this works or not?

I think the best thing is that you first separate platforms and then attend to the chipsets as krampak tells you.

In fact, on the manufacturers' websites, (if they have them well set up), you can find exactly what I think you are looking for, a hierarchical guide of the platforms ordered by characteristics. For example:

      ASRock

On the left you have all the platforms and within each one, the models that the brand has.

I don't know how much, but something like this is better, it doesn't have to be that store it's just to show you the approx budget,
it comes out to less than 400 euros, but for what you want it is very decent
      Custom budget. PcComponentes.com

To get closer to the concept, there are pci to agp adapters (and I think vice versa too), there are simple old pci graphics and some mutations of this type. So if you want to have an ace up your sleeve for when your graphics card fails, get something from the above mentioned and you'll be more relaxed. That, or a cheap pci-e graphics card just for checks.

What you imagine of a usb graphics card of the same type as those sound ones that are around 5 or 10€, it doesn't seem like it's going to be available in the short term.

It's exactly what Fassou says. I always had this problem on my old Athlon64 3000+.

If you leave the external drive connected when Windows XP starts up, the system tries to read it or something like that, but the thing is, it never starts up. You just have to unplug it, start up and connect it when you're already on the desktop ?

      Best regards!

This one should work for you without any problems. You can only put two DDR3 or two DDR2 memories, never the four at the same time

      Asrock G41C-GS V2.0 - Motherboard - 70 euros

The difference with yours is that it is a little shorter and has two PCI instead of the three that yours has
and you can only use two memories, for the rest without problems, everything works for you. ok

OK, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE ANSWERS.

Well, you see, I have already solved the problem, there were several.

The first thing was that the fan was full of dust as well as the heatsink.
Then I performed reballing with the graphics, added thermal paste and everything is fine.
It seems that there was a cable that was not well attached or that's what it looked like and I adjusted it.
The capacitors were not bulging at least the most significant ones next to the power supply.
The transistors should not be touched.
General cleaning especially and reballing, or rather reflow since I did not change the soldering.
Then I used a temperature scanning program (argus), because I think that was what was blocking the laptop, among other things.

And ready, everything assembled and working, I have performed several times the restart, shutdown, disconnection with and without battery, and it turns on perfect, and of course, always monitoring the temperature.

I hope that the thermal paste does its job, and in case the temperature increases, then I will drill to the edge and make some holes in the lid with a mesh for this thick dust.

…but for home recordings it's very good.

It's just that, home and old recordings, some from TV series and commercials from past times... Very specific memories that hit my nostalgic vein when I read this thread, and once something gets into the "pending" brain region... It doesn't come out unless it's done

      @torquis:

      Good morning everyone:

Well, you see, I've been left with an HP Presario a900 netbook PC laptop. The thing is, it has Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit installed, recovered using F11, and after checking the official hp.com website, I've realized that there are no drivers for Windows 7. Only for Windows Vista 32 and 64-bit.

Here's the link in case someone wants to check it out better, because when I run a "dxdiag", it shows up as Presario a900 and on the official website I can only find Presario a900es, I imagine that the ending "es" refers to Spain.

Download software & drivers for Compaq Presario A900ES PC laptop | HP Support®

Well, the question is, could I install Windows 7 on this laptop or would it be better not to? What do you recommend or has anyone done this and had problems, etc.

Best regards and happy new year to everyone.

Well, Windows 7 provides most of the drivers, besides, many Vista drivers are also compatible with Windows 7, but since it usually installs the most important ones during the installation, it doesn't matter much. Also, when you download updates, it tells you if there are newer drivers for some components.

Then, depending on the chipset or the graphics card, it will definitely offer a driver for the graphics card with the updates, although if it's AMD or Nvidia, you can download and install them yourself so they'll be the newest ones.

Windows 7 is more comfortable with these things.

What you should be careful with is not to format if the laptop has a recovery partition, only format the partition where the system is, because many laptops have a hidden partition that serves to reinstall their original system.

      Regards

To thoroughly test the graphics, forget about those Hiren's programs, which are designed for the era when only 2D was important. Now you need one that works on Windows. Take a look at some of the ones mentioned here:

      http://hardzone.es/programas-para-testear-monitorizar-y-comprobar-el-rendimiento-de-tu-pc/

The Sylver option is just as good, gaming, video playback, working with the computer...

      Best regards.

SOLVED: ? Here we have the culprit:

The thing is that the keyboard is not USB, I don't know what happened, because on other computers it works perfectly for me.
I solved it by disconnecting everything and connecting only what is necessary to the PC.

After many attempts, and even with everything well connected the PC did not pick up the keyboard and I got several errors which I show below:

      SOLUTION:

The keyboard did not let me select the F1 option, as the companions in this forum have helped me, I tried disconnecting the Centronic adapter and connecting directly to the PC to repair, but even so I got the errors that I put in the photos, I tried at least 12 times, until finally the BIOS caught the keyboard.

You have to keep the F10 key pressed until you see on the screen (set up)
Then configure the date and time
And finally reset the factory values.
In my case I reinstalled the entire operating system (Windows XP Professional SP3 32 bit)

And well, now I am very happy <:(

Thanks a lot to everyone, I will not forget the help provided, I owe you a few beers ?

      @torquis:

Yes, you are right, I expressed myself wrong, I don't think the graphics are damaged at least since the update failed me, it's just that I don't see anything at all, totally black screen, no access to bios or anything, so the question is a bit absurd.

The thing is that I followed a manual to reset the bios of my laptop, but it requires a combination of keys and when I run out of options or at least that's what I think, I thought that if at least I could see something on the screen with some option (f1, or press this or that) I could choose and I thought that maybe the graphics were damaged, but of course it's not that it's damaged it's that the bios is corrupt and I thought about putting the external usb-vga just in case.

But now that I think about it these us-vgAs will have their own drivers I don't know if they will be installed automatically on the hard drive or simply not installed because of the corrupt bios.

The question is that if when updating the failed bios, by chance it only affected the graphics, I could buy this usb-vga and get into the bios to reconfigure the factory values.

But I think that's not the case, because the laptop turns off and turns on by itself, after several restarts. Now I am waiting to put into practice the recovery tutorial using usb-floppy disk, but I don't know if it will work because the bios will have to recognize the usb and then the data from the floppy disk.

      Best regards.

Usb-vgAs always require drivers and operating system, so forget about that option.

Soldering integrated directly onto the board without a socket is risky because the heat can damage it. Other than that, I don't see anything strange about that solder.
