I have a Q6600 overclocked at 3400 Mhz with a Noctua NH-U9B SE2 cooler and the CPU doesn't even notice it.
Right after booting up it's 19-20º and when it's been running for a while, idle is 30º and full load doesn't reach 55º.

I don't know how much a second-hand Q6600 will go for but it's a good option and if you decide on it, get the Go revision as it can handle higher temperatures and is more overclockable.

It's okay if it doesn't start, just press the power button for 3 or 4 seconds and it will reset the bios to the default configuration. When you enter the post, it will tell you to choose F1 or F2. With F2, it stays reset, with F1 it puts the same configuration that doesn't start, but you can enter the bios or UEFI and tweak what you see. That motherboard will have XMP options that configure the memory, although I don't like it because Asus usually puts a lot of voltage. Anyway, that's under warranty.

But it's always better to configure it manually. I don't think you'll gain much by lowering that latency. It will be noticeable in benchmarks, but if the memory is a bit tight, it may perform worse in games. It's a bit more unstable with worse minimums. You should configure the voltage and latency well so that it runs smoothly.

@incrediboy: pues al final no se si no va a estar la grafica petada… esta tarde para descartar cosas desinstale los ultimos drivers y al instalar los nuevos y reiniciar el windows no arrancaba (despues de la pantalla de "iniciando windows" me pegaba un pantallazo rosa toh reshulona con errores por todas partes). entro en modo seguro y inicia bien, borro los drivers y inicia bien sin drivers de la grafica en modo normal. me vuelvo a descargar una version mas antigua de los drivers de la grafica que se que va bien, y tras reiniciar el pc vuelve a no iniciarse windows. tras varios reinicios consigo que arranque, pongo un juego para monitorizar temperaturas y no tarda ni 5 minutos en quedarse la imagen congelada, colgarse el pc y el venti de la grafica se pone a tope (modo turbina de avion de combate [ON]) a ver si mañana cojo otra grafica vieja del trastero y puebo con una instalacion limpia de windows, pero la cosa no pinta nada bien… como este jodida ya van 3 gtx580 petadas. Mira soy recien inscrito en el foro solamente xq leei todo el post y tengo el mismo problema me gustaria saber si aun tienes ese problema o si ya lo resolvistes haver si me poderias ayudar. no se q mas hacer :wall:

I think that's what I'll do, it's not normal that with some standard memories everything goes OK and with these I can't start the Boot normally.
But it doesn't seem very ethical to me that these memories are sold as compatible (even in the PC configurator of PCComponentes they come out as an option with this ASUS board) and more so being some memories that are not cheap (about 60 euros for 8 gigas of RAM)…and that on top of that they don't work with a last generation board!!

ASUS recommends using the Slot A2 with a single bar of RAM and the slot A2 and B2 in Dualchannel, I've tried all the possible combinations and "nada de nada".

If no one from the forum gives another solution, I'll call PCComponentes to see if they can change them for others (again... what a mess)

in your case you put 8 8 8 24 at 1333Mhz or you put like mine 9 9 9 27 at 1600Mhz
