He puesto la P5B.

@Xevipiu nothing out of this world, mate!! Just enough for me to be able to build a retro pc someday.
What's funny is that a few months ago they gave me a 486 and I also found a Pentium 166 on Wallapop from a really nice guy, I think.
I only have it for the nostalgia and for tinkering around, the problem is that I either have little time or little desire, but it's my little hobby. But anyway, my collection at most fills a shelf of one of your bookshelves!!

But seeing your photos is very pleasant ?

@jordiqui I agree with you. And more so with the performance of the latest generation CPUs, they do not evolve as much from one generation to the next and take longer to become obsolete. I bought an R7 7700 and between it being cheap and, although it is not the latest generation, it is quite recent, it has been a great purchase that I am very happy with.

@carlos24 it's not worth updating your rig with a Xeon X5470 because you already have a similar cpu. It would be different if you had a Core Duo, or similar.

I also don't think you'll get much performance by upgrading the ram. And regarding the GPU the 750ti is better than the 550ti, it's strange that the second one performs better and it may be a driver issue.

I imagine you won't have much budget to improve your rig, but for sure you can find a second-hand Dell PC with an i7/i5 from 4th or 5th gen for little money and you can get a bit more out of that 750ti.

    Regards!!

Normally, in Intel processors, the maximum turbo boost is applied to a single core. If you do a mononúcleo benchmark, you will surely see it working at maximum turbo boost. In multinúcleo, the frequencies decrease because otherwise the TDP would skyrocket. It is also true that, since the 12th generation, they do not work as limited in frequencies but in temperature. Thermal throttling lowers temperatures. This can also be seen in the 7th generation of Ryzen...

@Belzebu Let's see, it seems that everything is compatible and should work but it's hard to be sure because in laptops, since everything is often proprietary connectivity, unpredictable things can happen. I would take a risk, I tell you that too but I like the risk... I have a desktop board with a laptop processor from the brand Erying... With that I tell you everything... ?

@pos_yo hello, sorry I just answered now, well, there are thousands of am3+ motherboards that support fx, in fact that socket was designed for fx. but.... the chipset that comes with the one you mentioned is.... terrible and the data bus, HT doesn't even reach 800mhz, and fx, if I remember correctly, was at 2ghz. that's why it doesn't work. you have a bottleneck of scandalous size. look for a 990x or 990fx which are the ones with the highest data bus since the 970 980 and others are given a small oc to go up to 2ghz.
and always look for amd chipsets for those processors. they are the best that go with them.
but fx are not 6 core. they are 3 core and 6 thread.... the fx issue was a scandal. for me, the best of that era are the 1100t or that series of phenomn II x6 those are real 6 core. and with some improvements and tweaks, they can compete with more than one i7 of that era.

    @krampak

I connected the drive to other computers with Windows and Linux. I even took the drive out of its packaging and connected it directly through the SATA interface, but it didn't work.

I managed to find a solution on the Internet.

First, I managed to create a copy of the damaged drive with the help of "HDD Raw Copy Tool".

I loaded "Hetman Partition Recovery", the program found my RAW drive and ran a full scan. It found most of my files and recovered them successfully. Of course, not all files could be recovered, but I was lucky: I was able to recover the most important ones.

@Sylver said in monitor turns off when connecting to cpu:

@nightcode1 okay, I just saw in the first photo you attached that it does have a speaker integrated into the board (in this case named BUZ, from buzzer).
If removing absolutely all components except processor and power supply doesn't emit any beep, it's possible that there is some internal damage to the board that is very difficult to identify, as we have no way to guide ourselves...

You can also see a swollen capacitor in the first photo. It doesn't have to be the cause of the problem, but if it has been like this for a long time, it's evident that it hasn't filtered the current at the point where it was planned to do so and it may have damaged the internal component it served.

With no response from the board, everything points to there being some internal damage.

What happened when you didn't connect the P4 and tried to boot was that the board didn't detect the power supply for the CPU and the reaction is usually like that, fan at maximum and doesn't turn on.

If by any chance the board's buzzer didn't work (it's rare), you could try mounting a PCI-express graphics card directly and see if there was any luck, but everything points to the board being damaged internally as I told you.

    Regards

hello friend, in effect I disconnected everything and only left the P4, P20 speaker connected and nothing that emits beeps, the power supply turns on but no beeps ? I don't have a tester so I'll have to send it for review to at least know what it has

    Hello friends
Well, for now everything is working correctly, since I applied that change in the firewall Etc/UTC, I have been two days that everything works well.
Now I do the internet speed tests and they come out correct, and I no longer have the downloads of 80 megs instead of the 300 megs.
Many thanks to all for your help.

They also say they are going to ramp up their R&D in order to catch up with AMD and the lead that Samsung and company have taken; for now, I think they were talking about two more iterations and then 2nm.

A18 and A20 will be the acronyms for these Intel manufacturing technologies.
