Congratulations on the result @cobito, incredible work. Without a doubt, the owner owes you more than just gratitude.

Thanks for sharing it here in detail, even though it seems like a very particular and isolated circumstance, in reality, you never know when all this information might be needed.

    Best regards!

@Tilinsito421 When the output is DVI, when transforming it to VGA, it should work correctly. What cable do you connect it with? Do you use a VGA cable and transform the signal directly from the card or do you connect it via DVI and transform the signal directly on the monitor? It seems silly but the number of times a slightly dodgy cable gives signal errors. Another option is to try it with the other outputs although you would need other signal adapters...

    • I assume you have already checked the card's control panel and no other screen appears connected because it would not be the first time that a resolution error or sampling frequency error gives a signal error on a VGA screen...

@palotes ? I love how you explain these things Jjj

There have been some good things, like evolving a lot in the cheapening and simplification of productive methods, that is, in the massification of access to many things. But normal obsolescence, the one from before, must return for the good of all.

Besides all that has been said, it happens that the race we are carrying out so as not to destroy the planet also involves these issues, and it is never talked about much, only about fuels and the CO2 released, and it happens that unnecessary manufacturing and the poor level of recycling are a good part of the cake.

GB or GiB, The clear demonstration that in the early days of computing the experts got a bit carried away, we've all identified that old myth at some point, even in the cinema.

What basically happened was that as file sizes grew, computer scientists got comfortable and started expressing large values as if they were decimal values rounding with the decimal base metric scale.

Later, as file sizes increased a lot and the consequent error factor, they pulled the GiB out of their sleeve with the sole purpose of not giving in and continuing down the comfortable path, making the GiB then the mathematically correct value, and the GB that was originally the correct value becomes a mess.

However, the GiB has been rather hidden from the public. The GB currently, due to its arbitrary use, has become an ambiguous value that is calculated based on octal or decimal as you please, and the Gib is hardly used.

If we express it mathematically, misunderstandings and ambiguous social conventions that have no place in a purely mathematical discipline like computer science end, that is, a MiB is 1Byte raised to the 6th power, while 1Byte x 1,000,000 is an erroneous calculation, no matter how much the market sells it to us as 1 byte raised to the 6th power.

The funniest thing is when some forum member comes along and tells you that how dare you question the engineers you poor mortal ? ?

PD: Currently for Google (and for most apparently) the iB (KiB, GiB etc) is now the mathematically correct (1 KiB = a 1024 Bytes), and the B (KB, GB etc) is for commercial use and is worth x thousand (1 KB = a 1000 B). Remember also that the Byte is expressed with a capital B (kilobyte = kB), and the bit with a lowercase b (kilobit = kb).

@defaultuser That's why they stayed with the phrase from Blade runner:
You've shone with great intensity, it's time for your end.

I think they sell us speed not durability.
    In all aspects...
    CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD etc...
But of course, we have to have the most powerful PC possible because otherwise not even W11 "works"

When the drive has already failed it only allows reads, and supposedly you can clone the system to a new drive. In the article they say they tried it with Samsung’s Data Migration soft, without success since it only works on a functional primary OS disk.

They also explain the whole process of updating the firmware, but they don’t clarify anything about what happens to those who are late and have lost their drive.

Most importantly, update as soon as possible. Salu2.

During the first or second quarter of this year, 22 and 24 TB capacities will arrive with current technology.
For the third quarter, Seagate will launch its Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology on a 30 TB disk for the first time. This technology will increase the capacity of future HDDs (5TB per platter in the lab) and in 2026 Seagate intends to sell capacities of 50TB and above in a single 3.5-inch HDD.

Considering the losses in the sector, we can assume that this technology will arrive in the consumer market after its first iterations and cost reduction.

Current VR techniques still rely too much on tricking the senses and perception in general, I don't think its use will spread until other better techniques are developed.

However, Tony Stark's glasses would be a hit, and I think that could be done (even if Jarvis were the mobile in your pocket)

@cobito In the ram it's not about manufacturing, what happens is that the "units" where the bits are stored are basically capacitors, and apparently they tend to lose a little of their energy level when they are activated, hence the ram self-refreshes.
Already having ECC, it seems that outside of servers or workstations it's not worth it, it will pass like SDEs I suppose.

@cobito said in Hidden data errors:

The fact that they try to attack the problem of CPUs via software already gives an idea of how slippery the topic must be.

It goes unnoticed to absolutely everything except for specific analysis tools, imagine, maybe this phenomenon was discovered by theory and later verification? who knows.
The case is that it seems to be starting to have an incidence that is worth taking more seriously, between the smaller integration giving less precision of the finish, and the computer plant not stopping growing, it makes sense that at a certain point the control of this phenomenon is crucial.

they mention a tool, the Fire Tool, I haven't seen it but it's sure to be a mess.

Well, this unifies the topic a bit, away from proprietary technologies and towards extended application of the capabilities of the latest USB revisions, or at least as far as charging is concerned.
They want any charger to work for any device, and products to be sold without a charger.

What I haven't stopped to look into is whether this already applies to USB 4.

Well, I have the same opinion, it seems to be a problem with the power supply that is "somewhat damaged" and in the end, any extra consumption will cause the PC to shut down. I am leaning towards the power supply, perhaps because it "turns off" because I would even doubt if it is a problem with some module if it were some random reboot or blue screen.

I think you could connect the minimum and run some performance test to see if the computer suddenly reboots even with the minimum (as you said you managed to get the PC to start up). I would recommend this program: OCCT. You can see the voltages of the F.A and run some tests on the memory, etc. and see what happens.

    Regards!!

@sylver Thanks for the information. I didn't realize it because I didn't see it yesterday, but indeed, having Prime service, for the Razer Naga X besides Amazon UK there is a German seller.

I just talked to Amazon and they confirmed that in their order, once placed, if in the shipping costs section there is no extra customs fee, it means that there is no such cost, so in the end I am going to buy the Razer Naga X from Amazon UK and they will deliver it tomorrow, so I will be able to confirm firsthand if it is true that they don't charge customs duties, because when placing the order there was no mention of any extra.

Thank you very much for the help offered, when it arrives I will comment on how the delivery is and if I have had any problems.

You have to be an imbecile to do something like that. They are not selling their products to people who do not know what they are buying. Nor are they products in which these scams are difficult to detect, there are test banks and the first thing someone does when buying is consult these test banks. The only way something like this can work is if 100% of the manufacturers agree so that in the future the consumer will suspect everyone. If there is one that does not go through the hoop they have already ruined their reputation.

There are examples in this world of companies that have taken years to recover their reputation for a mistake like putting cheap capacitors. They go and put bad chips on purpose. I have read that Intel has not entered this game. They will see what they do.

I can confirm what was said. Logitech G403, after only two months, I had to install software to avoid the double click of the center button when pressing once.

It is a shame that this kind of thing happens.
