Nvidia breaking funding promises, Microsoft losing 10% in stock market due to poor outlook for Azure and its AI investments, Oracle laying off 30,000 workers because banks have pulled back on funding for AI data centers, Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley trying to cover their backs on debt they've taken on to fund AI data centers... this is starting to smell a little fishy.

We are always the same with the issue of speculation: whether it's graphics cards and hard drives with mining, whether it's the PS5 when it came out, now it's memory... it's incredible, history repeats itself constantly.

It is true that these are not essential things (although it is a pain for us), but the sad thing is that the same mentality ends up being applied to basic or essential goods. I like that people have the freedom to negotiate and make money, but there are points where a dominant position is blatantly abused and it stops being fair for the consumer...

You're right, @pos_yo selling hardware from years ago as new sounds a bit like a joke, but given how the current landscape is, you can expect anything from NVIDIA!!

I suppose that as long as they maintain driver support and the official warranty, these 3060s will occupy that segment of users who can't (or don't want to) reach the prices of a 40 or 50 series. In the end, it's almost better that these 3060s come out "like churros", at least they have decent performance, rather than us being sold the capped 3050s or the eternal GTX 1650s that can't do anything more.

    Hello @darko!

I'm really glad you were able to fix it!
Indeed, the settings are special on laptop screens, that's why I expected that your PC's native resolution would be conflicting.
Lucky you were able to restore the Adrenalin from AMD and that it let you set up the extra screen exactly, because sometimes it's a bit of a problematic application.

A pleasure to be able to help you, see you around!

    Best regards!

hello, what motherboard do you have? because with that processor you have pcie 2.0 and depending on the motherboard, you could put a series 3 processor that has dropped in price and you increase the pcie to 3.0 in addition to supporting faster memories, and a 3770 is always better and cooler than a 2600
don't worry about the bottleneck, you can put up to a 2060 if the motherboard supports that processor upgrade. I use a xeon equivalent to the 3770 with 32gb at 1833mhz and a 1650 of 4gb ddr6 as a game server for some friends and as a PLex server for my family.

check as they say, the thermal paste and other components, and take close-up photos of the board from the front and back, to see if the Chinese have done any of their own.. normally these boards do not dissipate the heat from the memory. you will have to make some repairs to fix it. I put some small heatsinks for that and lowered the memory frequencies a bit.

    I was going to be a saint's remedy ? ?

Honestly for companies of that technical level... with the money that a graphics card of those costs and that they haven't seen from the beginning that a different type of connector had to be used (or accept that it is even longer).
and on the other hand, the use of four-pin fastons instead of six-pin ones, will improve the electrical contact, but it's not going to change the fact that these connectors are not worth messing around with, they are more like a euroconnector than a sata, to say something.

@clipper I saw a video of a version of these, and it barely had any OC headroom, in the video itself they said it was a mess because the cooling performed very well.
On top of that, I understand that it will have a clear surcharge for being a special design.

Personally, I would rather get one where the surcharge comes from having more headroom and that by putting two big fans on it, it runs a bit cooler on its own and without making even a fraction of the noise.

I have it that way, maybe I'm easily biased and a bit of a cooling addict, but from having only the OC frequency of the card (1860mhz I think) at around 75ºC and with the fans at half throttle already making a high-pitched turbine noise, I've moved to having 1960/1990mhz fixed at 55/60ºC and a sound that is hidden behind the rest of the fans. which by themselves make a low hum, like a quiet beach at night, hehe
Gaming at dawn in a village and with people sleeping in their rooms is feasible ?

Ha, I only put some very cheap but very correct P12 artic fans, plus I found them at a great price.
It's not that heavy, but it will cover three slots or three and a half.

    Regards.

I don't know if it's at a low point, I imagine there are logistical problems, raw materials, etc., but when looking for a Ryzen Zen 4 configuration, I see a Ryzen 7. The listing only mentions the Z760 chipset, I think, a basic liquid cooling kit and now comes the good part: GeForce RTX 4080 16GB. When I saw the prices I didn't understand how they could sell the pc at the price they sell it for, I was flabbergasted. I had only seen those prices years ago on professional-grade graphics cards, but not for gaming. But what are those graphics cards doing in games like Call of Duty?

    @defaultuser said in Inverted bottleneck?:

It may be that the 7000s do not displace the general market prices until after the holiday season, due to their release during the period of assured sales.
At the same time when new products come out, their prices, and what they really improve, often the previous ones with good price/performance ratio become top sellers and revalue.
Come on, that unless the current series still goes down more during the holiday season and the release of the 7000s, you would already have to wait a few months to have better buying options, but you could have the opportunity for a better one for the same money, or this for less.

In the commercial world they call it "fear of missing out" to what you are suffering right now, for them it is a sales tactic, for us a reason to try to keep a cool head what are we going to do ?

Wait, you have already gotten rid of that dilemma, so let's see those photos ?

I don't know how the price issue of the rx6800 XT will end when the 7000 series comes out but on Wednesday my boss paid €699.89 and I have to give him €563, he will be refunded the VAT.
Today the same graphics card in the same store costs €1426 so... I'm delighted with life.
I suppose it's always been the policy, they decide they want to get rid of part of the stock, they make a temporary offer and then raise the price again. And on Black Friday they lower them again if they have a lot of stock left and the forecast is that they will eat it with potatoes, if not then... there are no offers and they will sell them.
    Regards.
    About the review that's done.
At the moment the only thing that slightly bothers me is the "aluminum" color, lately I prefer more sober colors like black.
But since I'm not much of a person to look at the inside of the tower it's a bit of a difference for me, that is clear that it will be cleaner than the xfx which is 100% black and you can see the dust, which is bad.
    Regards 2

    @clipper What palotes says.
I've seen it in repairs of the ground clamp of arc welders, it welded to the cable very well, and it didn't last even half an electrode jjj.

At high currents the relative electrical resistance of the weld produces a hot spot, and the hotter it gets the more it increases the actual resistivity of the weld material (thereby causing more heating).
You may experience less power reaching you, or even that it melts and dances during the sessions depending on the weld material.
It depends on the sizing of the line, if it's just right as they say, this can happen.

A basic tip for users of those connectors is that carrying the board very hot favors this to happen, simply because the connector dissipates mostly through its legs across the board.
And the other is that having the connector in front of some air current can also take away a lot of heat, and it can be something simple to achieve.

    Salu2.

@desvest I had two GTX 750 TI and I found myself in a similar situation. The first one is a Palit, I loved how small and compact it was and the good performance it gave in its time, I'm talking about 2014 when they came out although it served very well for playing in 720p for quite some time. Another feature I liked is that it didn't have a 6-pin power connector, which helped a lot in using it in modest systems and saved you one more cable to mount.

The thing is that about 3 years ago, I was given a "new" Gigabyte because in the PC where they used it, it was just taking up space, since they used the Intel integrated xD They even thought it was K.O. and no, it worked... and it still works perfectly. Well, this one did have the 6-pin connector and I was left like you.

What I've thought is that in some models they came with OC as standard and it raised a little more than the consumption that this graphics has, which is 60W (recommending power supplies of at least 250W), so they approach the maximum that the PCIe bus can give which, if I remember correctly, is 75W. I suppose they don't want to risk problems of instability and having to process many RMA, so they add a little more "extra" energy.

For 10 € it's worth having it repaired, it's a great warrior that little one, it runs just as well as some GT1030 jajaja

@clipper said in New graphics T. Now that the prices of 3060/3070 have dropped a bit, any recommendations?:

    @d4mi4n-13
12 GB fits within your budget.
Games are as they are and each one asks for more resources to play at full capacity.
Therefore, as much as possible, I would try to get a graphics card as complete as possible, within certain margins... I'm not going to say that you get one for 24 GB because that's beyond your budget and in the short term I don't think it's necessary, but maybe in 10 years, but that would be throwing money away because no one keeps a GPU for that long and every two years they increase the frequency.
The thing about a big donkey...
It's a big donkey whether it moves or not.
Better to be overstocked today than scarce tomorrow.
    Regards

    Hello!

To be honest, I have doubts. When you look at one with 12GB, the CUDA cores drop a lot and that "SO LOW" price makes me hesitate... They increase the Mhz and the data transfer memory (Only 1GB more) but they lower the CUDA and the data width.
At the end of the day, I don't know how this can affect you, playing and noticing it, is like taking a punch in the face for having spent "too little" xD

I've been looking again at the Asus DUAL GeForce RTX 3060 Ti V2 MINI OC Edition LHR 8GB GDDR6, right now there's a "supposed offer" for 539.89€ and it usually costs more than 600€. Except for the video failure, it performed well, it's just bad luck if it happens again.
Honestly, it was enough for me and I would have kept it if it hadn't had the problem. I paid 670.95€ for it. Right now, it would be a bargain, unless they're trying to sell the defective one I returned cheaper... It's not uncommon at PCC.

I've also been looking at the ASUS TUF Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti V2 OC Edition on amazon for 675.11€ and if it doesn't work out, I'll return it if it doesn't give me the performance I want. If I'm not mistaken, it's like the big version of the MINI.

I'm hesitant to go down two steps having had a 3070 ti in my hands and seeing its good performance (Until it became a good heater for winter) but I had to return it anyway. I say 2 steps thinking about 3070 and 3070 ti.

Another option is to wait and see what happens with the prices, and go for a 3070 ti or 3080 or ti if there's a great offer... Anyway, if I get one of these two (For example) it will last me a few years and I'll be able to buy another one.

PD: It had been a long time since I heard that expression, I didn't even remember it hahaha

    Thanks!!
