Another possibility is that the Icon Cache got messed up by also having SSDs, and you can try to force it to reset by running "ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache" or by deleting the file "C:\\Users%userprofile%\\AppData\\Local\\IconCache.db", and a last option (at least in XP) is to go into the Registry and change the number that defines the icon of the Windows library that assigns to each drive.

The strangest thing is that when Catalyst is open it doesn't crash, that's why I hadn't tried what you said before, haha.

It seems like the antivirus is messing something up, and when you open Catalyst it loads into memory and fixes it.

If I don't install antivirus it doesn't crash, and of course there's no need to open Catalyst.

Another thing is that if I set Windows to 23.97hz, that is, if the program doesn't have to make the change, it doesn't crash either.

Basically it's not able to play the images associated with the gadget. I read somewhere that the sidebar can't work without having.NET installed, and suspiciously it went to hell right after updating a NET update... in the end... anyway... if I feel like it later I'll try reinstalling NET to see what happens...

That may be the simplest solution. Find the files that make DeepFreeze work, delete them from ms-dos with a simple RM and then reboot. As long as vital DLL components or similar from DeepFreeze are missing, it will not be able to run normally.

Normally, when installing drivers, the same order is usually followed as in the assembly of the components, which is: motherboard (chipset controller, connection ports, etc.), graphics card (video controller), sound card (or audio controller if it comes integrated in the motherboard), and the rest of the accessory devices (such as a tuner card, scanner, etc.). DirectX is usually installed at the end, unless one of the drivers requires it for its installation.
Regarding the virtual machine, if it really is a virtual machine program, it has probably been installed to run some diagnostic program, so you should not worry about that.
