Nothing is impossible with electricity, but the good thing about having a good power supply is that it is much more difficult for another component to break other than the power supply itself. Even if a spark occurs or a capacitor bursts, which leaves everything in a state where "surely the DVD reader has burned out", it may not have broken anything else.
Of course, there is always the possibility that if you had the PC in an area with humidity, in addition to the power supply, the motherboard may have been damaged, but the best thing to do is to try with a power supply that works and is of sufficient power.
The truth is that 10 years is quite a long time, although many power supplies would like to last that long. Some do not last even two years... of course, usually the bad ones for 15-20€. That said, keep in mind that nothing is eternal and the power supply suffers wear and tear and reaches a point where it says enough is enough.
Greetings!!
Edit: sorry for the reflote...I didn't look at the date jajaja
