@Clipper said in F.A compatibility with H.P tower:

      The million dollar question.
Does anyone know which connector to bridge for the F.A to start up and verify output voltages?
      Regards

From what I've read around, normally the green and black wires of the P2 connector are bridged if it has one (similar to how it's done in traditional power supplies).
If it doesn't have one or has different colors, the purple and yellow wires are bridged on the P1 connector (again, if it has those colors).

I don't know if there are more variations regarding the models and versions of the power supplies/equipment, but in those cases it works.

      Regards

The last time I messed around with game servers was with Counter-Strike Source (of which I made a little guide), so I'm pretty out of date.

Power is what you need to have. In the end, any machine that meets the architecture and operating system will work. And if it's a relatively recent CPU, it will meet the performance needs.

In its time (2005-2006) the CS:S server needed a relatively demanding machine that, at the time, was an Athlon XP 2000+ with 512MB of RAM. At that time, the biggest bottleneck was the Internet connection because it only had 1Mbps upload, so you had to play a lot with the server's parametrization so that as many players as possible could enter. And that's not counting the ping that ADSL added (even if it was in fastpath mode). To this day, that limitation has completely disappeared.

Here the only question is whether it's worth it. I don't think a game server is especially parallelizable in terms of CPU, so unless you're going to run several servers simultaneously, it's possible that a machine with a dual Xeon will end up being too underutilized.

      @cobito sincerely.
I have the corsair comander and it clearly states that it is only compatible with certain corsair fans.
And we are talking about a simple hub for fans and leds ( of course the leds have to be corsair )
So I highly doubt that tomorrow we can put the fans or whatever from another brand.
Corsair comes up with the idea, the others copy it but... With " buts "
Not a universal system as such.
It remains to be seen when W11 finally releases to the rest of mortals the option to control the leds from the S.O.
When that happens, maybe the corsair system and the others that will come out can be combined.
But seeing how W11 and corsair icue measure the temperatures...
      I don't know.
      What if...
I have a lot of work to do.
But W11 marks me some acceptable GPU temperatures and the corsair icue marks me at least 10/15 degrees more.
      Regards

I completely understand your opinion and that you don't want to see the video.
Although the truth is that it's not worth it. So much nonsense all together.
Basically, the tower is a steel base cut with a laser on which a transparent methacrylate fish tank is mounted, lined with pieces of methacrylate treated with acid.
Inside, all the components are placed, and when I say all, I mean all.
With the M.B turned 90 degrees clockwise, the connectors are at the top.
Then they put a lid on it to cover the cables.
And they fill the tank with a non-conductive liquid.
They explain this for 45 minutes as if it were the newest thing in the world and done by the best in the world...
The methacrylate cutting is done with a large CNC machine that...
In the course of things, I took the "engineer" with a vacuum cleaner to remove the shavings while the machine was working.
As a curiosity, an industrial CNC can only be closed (so that you don't have accidents) or open but with a mat or detection cell so that you can't get closer than 1 meter to the machine while it's working.

In short, it doesn't contribute anything to the world of computing and even less to the world of modding.

      I was going to be a saint's remedy ? ?

Honestly for companies of that technical level... with the money that a graphics card of those costs and that they haven't seen from the beginning that a different type of connector had to be used (or accept that it is even longer).
and on the other hand, the use of four-pin fastons instead of six-pin ones, will improve the electrical contact, but it's not going to change the fact that these connectors are not worth messing around with, they are more like a euroconnector than a sata, to say something.

@defaultuser the F.A that I remember is new, whether it is reliable is another matter...
Many years ago (more than 10) I had a tacens very cool (with passive heatsink behind) that gave very bad voltage spikes, I retired it for the one I currently have, corsair RMi 750 and it is still going.
As I am missing some more 8 pin connectors and the 10 year warranty has already passed I may retire it soon.

@clipper I saw a video of a version of these, and it barely had any OC headroom, in the video itself they said it was a mess because the cooling performed very well.
On top of that, I understand that it will have a clear surcharge for being a special design.

Personally, I would rather get one where the surcharge comes from having more headroom and that by putting two big fans on it, it runs a bit cooler on its own and without making even a fraction of the noise.

I have it that way, maybe I'm easily biased and a bit of a cooling addict, but from having only the OC frequency of the card (1860mhz I think) at around 75ºC and with the fans at half throttle already making a high-pitched turbine noise, I've moved to having 1960/1990mhz fixed at 55/60ºC and a sound that is hidden behind the rest of the fans. which by themselves make a low hum, like a quiet beach at night, hehe
Gaming at dawn in a village and with people sleeping in their rooms is feasible ?

Ha, I only put some very cheap but very correct P12 artic fans, plus I found them at a great price.
It's not that heavy, but it will cover three slots or three and a half.

      Regards.

@defaultuser @defaultuser at 45 degrees to go from 120 to 140 you need a minimum height of 1cm, you can do it another way... But I don't have the tools to do it.

@clipper said in A "new" CPU heatsink:

so at a glance it looks like 1.5 or 2 mm and that in stamping... As if not.

Stamps are made from steels of greater thickness than that and we are talking about copper, besides the sheet is not machined, it is stamped or cut by laser or water jet.

Seriously the fins would come out of a stamping press even if they were 4mm thick, or eventually by water jet cutting for a superior finish but making the product a bit more expensive.

      Hello.
I bought a legal key for W10 pro a while ago that never worked well (it doesn't let me authenticate)
So, since I bought another m2 to compare performance, I thought about buying another key, which I hope will go better, the doubt is W10 or W11?
Both are oem for a single PC.
      The equipment is
      CPU AMD 9 5800X
      GPU Sahppire rx5800 XT
      RAM 32 gs corsair
      Ssd three m2 crucial p5 of 500gs
      Configurations....
The current one is raid 0 on ports 1/2
I have to test performance without raid on port 1 (only one m2)
Performance in raid 0 on three ports 1,2,3
And the option of one m2 for the OS and a raid 0 for programs / games.

From what I've read, W11 is better.
      Is that so,? Any experience?

      Regards

I imagine that updates have already been released to correct the relevant problems, bugs, etc. With my asus tuf gaming f15 laptop, i7 11 gen, I had better performance with Windows 10 pro, than with Windows 11. But I didn't bother to optimize Windows 11, which I did with Windows 10. It's like everything, it depends on what needs you have, so you configure it that way. Hugs.

      Hello!
The fiber optic cable can't be bent too much, folded, etc., you will lose the signal or it will be bad.
If you want to place it through the socket, the bend angles must be greater than 45 degrees.
Cutting and using normal cables is a bad idea. It's better to install it whole.
