Thanks @sylver for the quick response. That's the problem, when I put the Windows from 0, which has a random driver, it looked bad, then a driver was installed by Windows that allowed it to go up to a resolution of 1920x1080 and then I installed the latest version of Catalyst. In all of them it looked terrible. Also, when booting with the Acer logo, instead of seeing the black screen, it's red. I think I'll have to open it up and if I'm lucky, the GPU isn't soldered ?

@defaultuser more or less. Times change, but the steps to follow and discard don't vary much over time. ?

Exactly. I discarded the CPU because it always worked well, that's why I left it connected. Fortunately, this computer at least has the speaker for the beeps, the new one, when I built it and stuff, didn't do anything and I was surprised to see that it doesn't have anything and the MB doesn't have a screen or LED, it was like going blind.

My current motherboard is this: MSI MPG X570S EDGE MAX
And it doesn't have a screen or LEDs.
The old-fashioned speaker and off to the races.
      Regards

I understand that MSI has been doing well with the motherboards for AM4, even surpassing models from well-reputed brands, that of the speaker must have been to cut costs against the competition, otherwise it would be a negative point in an Edge Max depending on how you look at it.

Depending on how you look at it, to say it again...
If you have a tower with a window, you'll see the LEDs or the screen, if that's not the case... you won't see anything and you'll have to open the PC.
Idem if you have the tower under the table.
Anyway, I read an interesting article criticizing the current mid-range motherboards.
Basically, they said that they stuff us with unnecessary things.
Like three or four PCI Express ports when practically no one uses SLI
More than one M.2 port for the same reason (which wasn't my case, I installed 2)
Wi-Fi antennas, which in a desktop you normally use an RJ cable
And the collection of SATA ports for the same reason
      Regards

Well, that's true. The problem is that they make them almost the same in that sense.
There are people who will put special cards in the PCI (capture cards and more) but most don't, and there are no motherboards that dispense with so many slots.

There are people who want to mount several SATA drives, and even complain about few ports lately, but most don't either.
The double M.2 idem, if there are two from the CPU it might be interesting to have a RAID to save (cheaper drives to have size and cheaper speed), but having one from the CPU and another from the chipset is almost useless.

etc etc, I totally agree with everything, but I think those motherboards do have a clientele, the problem is that they don't make the option that sells the most, a PCI or one 4x more just in case you have to put something one day, an M.2 and a couple of SATA, and make a powerful motherboard but with just enough.
For me it's all marketing that we're going to do, most of the clientele is not specialized people and they sell them what they want.

      Salu2.

PD: the PCIe and SATA ports are already on the chips, then the traces on the bottom of the motherboard are easy to solve and the connectors won't be expensive either. An example of a decent motherboard but without superfluos would be, for example, a Gigabyte DS3H, don't you think?

@desvest I had two GTX 750 TI and I found myself in a similar situation. The first one is a Palit, I loved how small and compact it was and the good performance it gave in its time, I'm talking about 2014 when they came out although it served very well for playing in 720p for quite some time. Another feature I liked is that it didn't have a 6-pin power connector, which helped a lot in using it in modest systems and saved you one more cable to mount.

The thing is that about 3 years ago, I was given a "new" Gigabyte because in the PC where they used it, it was just taking up space, since they used the Intel integrated xD They even thought it was K.O. and no, it worked... and it still works perfectly. Well, this one did have the 6-pin connector and I was left like you.

What I've thought is that in some models they came with OC as standard and it raised a little more than the consumption that this graphics has, which is 60W (recommending power supplies of at least 250W), so they approach the maximum that the PCIe bus can give which, if I remember correctly, is 75W. I suppose they don't want to risk problems of instability and having to process many RMA, so they add a little more "extra" energy.

For 10 € it's worth having it repaired, it's a great warrior that little one, it runs just as well as some GT1030 jajaja

      Regards!!

@desvest De nada. I assumed you were using it over WiFi, so another router, even if it was from another company before, is also something you can try.
The old ones usually work very well and don't cause any problems as they are basic, although they usually have the limitation of ports at 100 Mbps.

Finally they lent me a SATA/USB adapter, I plugged it in and it works great. I started looking for the Gigabyte page and I see that my SSD is not listed. I have left a query with Gigabyte's technical support to see what can be done. Thanks for your time Fassou.

Sure @krampak, I want to take advantage of the operating system, as it probably has Windows 10 installed. So I'll try to see if I can make a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 and repair the system. If it gets much more complicated... the much-loved and forgotten format will come ? Many thanks!

@whoololon said in Monitor or TV? best wireless keyboard+mouse combo:

TVs, unless I'm mistaken, have a pixel density (ppp) low enough to not be a rival to a monitor; I say this for products within the price range you handle.

It's this density, beyond sizes, that you should take into account; a screen of (for example) 40" with a maximum resolution of 2560*1440, compared to a 30" screen with the same resolution will result in a larger pixel size, with all that entails.

Apart from that, look closely at the connections it supports and the maximum vertical refresh rate, which should be equal to or greater than 75 Hz (note, 75 Hz at its maximum resolution, which is then a trick). That value is the limit for frames per second (FPS for English speakers) from which you will suffer "tearing".

The thing about "ghosting", light leaks, dead pixels, etc... is a lottery. It affects both humble screens and the top of the range.

Keyboards and wireless mice... I've never been a big fan of them, and in my "gamer" days even less, those milliseconds you gained with the cable were worth an empire. I regret not being able to recommend any.

Regarding "that" about the SSD losing performance... let's just draw a thick veil over it.

      AOC Q3279VWF 31.5"

      Philips BDM33270QP2/00 32"

      BenQGW2765HT 27"

      Acer BE270U 27"

Many thanks whoololon for your response. I already knew there was a difference, but as I'm a bit out of date, I thought TVs had caught up. Based on the options, the AOC one seemed very good in quality/price. We will continue investigating!

Hello everyone, how are you? I'm back to this thread. For A or B, I finally couldn't buy the computer at the time... in the middle there were many changes, the budget could be stretched but... we entered the bad time for video cards.
I've put together this configuration, I'm still undecided about the tower (the Phanteks or the Be Quiet Dark Base 700).
The problem is, what video card to put together when nothing is available at the moment... would I have to change some other element?
Thank you very much for your help!

Of course, the problem @krampak is that I found the PC in the trash so there is no RMA in my case lol
Well, I will create another post to help me set up a new PC then, since this one is quite outdated already.
Thank you both for your time, we can close the thread.
