Yes, it's also a lottery to find a decent 5960x, better to pay extra and have them tested, it pays off seeing the results

    About the Xeon's 1366

Here I leave one of the last captures, it came from overvolting since it was previously working at 4.75Ghz

I'm left with the good memories of this SR2, a dream come true, now let's go for another project ?

The truth is that putting together a whole PC for 700€, I think it involves getting a semi-new deal in the second-hand market as some of us have done.

If what you want is for it to last, I would save a little more to reach at least 900€, and thus put a big i7 with a corresponding motherboard and a lot of RAM. If you were short of money, you could leave the SSD for later.

I update XD, I'm at 60 ibt max passes but with less vcore and more vimput, this latest BIOS is balancing the voltage towards less direct voltage for the micro, let's see if I can get to 100 and then run realbench for 8 hours.

Edit: Stability at 4.6 1.337 vcore and 2.0 vimput with bios 1001

    Best regards.

Well, a long time later I tell you how the issue ended.

I removed the BIOS and sent it to a specialized technical service in Holland, Bios-Service-Center: Specialized in programming Motherboard/Notebook BIOS Chip, there they read a parameter called BIS to prepare a new chip and send it to me.

When it arrived, I soldered it back and nothing, it still didn't work, it turns out that it was NOT the BIOS. In total it cost me 15€ + 6 for shipping, it's not that it was a fortune.

Finally I tried baking it, but nothing, it didn't work either, and searching the internet I couldn't find any motherboard that was under 130€, except on Alibaba which are around 110€, but no, I decided to let it be already...

    You can't say I didn't try!

This one should work for you without any problems. You can only put two DDR3 or two DDR2 memories, never the four at the same time

    Asrock G41C-GS V2.0 - Motherboard - 70 euros

The difference with yours is that it is a little shorter and has two PCI instead of the three that yours has
and you can only use two memories, for the rest without problems, everything works for you. ok

    Thanks for both recommendations.

On the motherboard topic, I got quite lost reading and reading more. An important issue for me is a future Crossfire/SLI and its OC capability. The same gives me the idea and I decline to try that liquid cooling thing.

Regarding the processor, thanks for the wise advice. I was unaware of the heat spreader issue; I had read something but just like with the topic I mentioned before, I didn't understand the importance of it.

I move the post to the motherboard section.

But seeing that the Motherboard is Gigabyte, it is important that you know that by default it comes with the BIOS partially hidden, so that in order to see the parameters that you will have to touch of the memory, you need to press the combination Control + F1 when you are in the main menu of the BIOS, so that those advanced fields are activated and you can touch them.

    Salu2!

So check with the stock cooler what temperatures you have because it's not normal since your CPU runs stock at 1.425V... your motherboard undervolts to 1.416v, which is normal by the way.

That said, check how it behaves with the stock cooler with everything on auto and a bit of heat with OCCT or with AIDA64 in FPU mode (I recommend OCCT because it creates a folder where it logs/graphs the parameters of everything it has recorded)

And you send us some screenshots ;D

As for lowering the voltage... the same, if you want to undervolt make sure that OCCT is stable for you.

Regarding the Scythe Katana 4 I think it's a bit weak for a micro with a TDP of 125W, probably better than the stock (I don't know how much better) but in any case insufficient to calm the wrath of an FX.

Anyway you shouldn't worry about it getting to 67º, if the micro handles it well and doesn't do "Thermal-Throttling" then nothing happens... the problem is if it drops below MHz because you will lose performance but don't worry the CPU won't burn... unless you have disabled it in the Bios ?

I've been looking at the manual for your motherboard and I don't see any strange options in the BIOS. On the ASUS 775 boards I've built, I've often come across an option in the BIOS called Memory Remap that needs to be activated if you install 4 GB or more.

Apart from suggesting that you update the BIOS, I would follow what you were told above about Dual Channel.

This is the thing there... I have located an i7 620m for 45€, do you think it's worth it? I am very interested in the fact that it has VT-d, since I have some virtual machines running on my laptop!

Chipset 990 has more bandwidth for multiGPU but it's not a good setup for plugging in 2 graphics cards and a 6300 is what you get when you're looking for value with a 970. Comment on what you want it for and at least give me a budget.

On the other hand, isn't it true that Broadwell will be focused almost exclusively on tablets and ultrabooks? I hadn't read about their appearance in desktop computers.

    Regards

No, Broadwell are the successors to Haswell that will have a 14nm manufacturing process compared to their predecessor's 22nm.

In fact, the launch has been delayed by a year since, if I remember correctly, it was scheduled for the end of 2013 but for some reason they decided to postpone it.

EDITED: Here you have the news of the delay

Perfect, I'll do that. This morning I started to detect the first strange behaviors in Linux so it's exclusively a hardware issue.

It's easy, just put the bios file on a pendrive, first make sure that the pendrive is recognized, although if it doesn't work, it's not a problem because you wouldn't be able to update.

MSI Spain - Computers, laptops, Notebook, Desktop, Motherboards, Graphics Cards and more

Here you have a video of an Asus, it's the same since in Asus it's called EZ flash and in MSI I think it's M flash but it works the same.
You download the Bios file from its page and unzip it on a Pendrive, you enter the UEFI to M flash, select the pendrive and the bios file and click update, it will tell you that you can't turn off the computer or cut the power while it updates.

    Greetings
