    @Namiga:

    A question about this... the boards I'm looking at.... the RAM support at 1866 is in all for OC...
    but how???

    to get the ram to go to 1866 I have to do OC to the processor's whiskers??? or will it be a different multiplier from FSB to ram??

    I have the ASRock > Z97 Extreme6 and Z97 is for OC… in the Bios you can put the speed you want on the RAM up to 3600Mhz (if my memory doesn't fail me) even though officially LGA1150 supports up to 1600Mhz... it does it by dividers with respect to the 100Mhz Bus.

    On the one hand in the bios you select the speed (as I told you) and on the other you choose the XMP profile for the timings... otherwise it is possible that it won't start with timings on auto or set by hand since there are hundreds of thousands and it's a bit crazy.

    What the board does is apply everything automatically, you don't have to touch FSB or dividers or anything... everything is very simple with the Z97... unless you touch the FSB, dividers and other stories but that's not your case.

    I would go with the H81 and the memos I told you... it's not worth the Z97 for a non-K micro... unless you look for a specific feature from that chipset apart from OC.

    Check that the SATA configuration is set to AUTO and AHCI mode is enabled.

    Much of that performance improvement is due to the increase in RAM speeds.

    It is noticeable in any of the generations that increasing bandwidth improves performance or almost equals it.

    It is true that in specific aspects an improvement in IPC is noticeable but it is the same architecture and until AMD pulls something out of the hat Intel is not going to change it.

    Perhaps the replacement of DDR memory by other types such as the new HBM will be the next quality leap along with the new SSDs with 3D Xpoint chips.

    @Fassou:

    I just thought, that in some old BIOSes you had an option, to prevent the computer from turning on when the case is open, which was called… ¿ Open Case?

    It was a jumper, to which a cable was connected that went to the case, and if the circuit was not closed (or you put the jumper), it wouldn't start.

    Regarding your question about the power supply, when the power supplies crack the capacitors, it is common to have problems starting up, and you have to leave them for a while without a plug, before you can start them up.

    Salu2!

    Thanks for your comments, but I've had enough and I've thrown everything away…..........

    @Fassou:

    In the modern ones I don't think you have a problem, but in the old ones, they used a kind of reddish cardboard washers, to insulate the screw head from the plate, and probably also to avoid splintering them with the pressure.

    Salu2!

    The plate is from the old ones since as I said I am assembling a basic computer with leftover parts from the oldest ones. And I have the doubt that mounting the plate directly to the case chassis is giving me problems

    Alright, alright, so that's out of the way.

    Modules that, from what I've read around, "work" (note the quotation marks) on the Asus P5KC are the Transcend JetRam DDR3 4 GB PC RAM (JM1600KLN-4G), supporting 2*4 GB.

    My recommendation: pay attention to the manual.
    If you can afford it, then try it, it might just work.

    ;D

    Edit: What CPU are we talking about?

    hmmm what a pain, let's see if the motherboard is new and the other components like RAM work and the others are independent so that the computer works, as the HDD is clear that the CPU is also burned. Let's see if someone can know some way to know if it's burned too.

    Thanks!!

    You can also use a mechanical pencil similar to these:

    It will make the process much easier for you.

    P.D.: Out of curiosity, what processor is it? With Intel, all I can think of are the socket 478.

    @migue30:

    1-Do you think the Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard would be good? I don't plan to overclock because I haven't dared to get into that world… But the motherboard should be less than 100€ and correct for this beast of a processor.
    Do you recommend any?

    Look at this post, about motherboards :sisi:

    @migue30:

    2-I know this beast has heat problems… what fan should I put on it?

    Even if you don't plan to overclock, that micro is very hot, and with summer coming, uff!

    Look for something more powerful, maybe an RL like Corsair Hydro H100i or CoolerMaster Seidon 240

    Cheers!

    The problem is that I want to know before I buy :ugly:

    Tomshardware has a comparison with the top micros, but it's from 2012.

    Guide yourself more or less by the opinion of the users on the net and don't get too worked up. You always have between 7 and 15 days to return the product if you don't like it, right? :ugly:

    I hadn't thought of that, it could be a good option, as long as you don't have a bay of that size occupied.

    Thank you very much, my doubt has been completely cleared! ?

    But now I am clear that I will have to leave it for later, I will try to sell mine and get some DDR3 A 1600MHZ DOMINATOR® PLATINUM SERIES OF 16 GB (2 X 8 GB) C7

    Thank you very much again, I wish I had asked before buying them jajajaja :wall:

    Could you tell me out of curiosity why do you need more than 16GB? O.o

    Sorry for not replying before. I appreciate the information. The USB thing doesn't exist as an option. And messing around with the connectors is beyond my knowledge. So I only have the option of turning off the power supply so that everything turns off.

    In any case, thank you very much for your help.

    @whoololon:

    If it's the one from Amazon, the image is quite descriptive.
    Just plug the 3pin PWM signal connector into the motherboard on CPU_FAN1 and the other 3pin-MOLEX connector into the power supply and the splitter. The PWM signal cable only controls the revolutions of the connected device, while the other one is the one that will supply the energy.
    Then simply connect the pump and the fans to the channels of the splitter that you find convenient.

    If that's how you have it, and the two auxiliary fans don't work, try disconnecting the PWM cable and having the whole set go to 100%, if they still don't work, try connecting them separately to check that they really work.

    A branch is a set of cables that come out of the power supply, in this case, one that has MOLEX.

    The temperature thing, well, if it were 35º, to calculate the inside temperature, add the ambient temperature to the temperature of CPU+GPU+chipset+RAM+disk drives+power supply. Without doing the math, I can already assure you that it will be much more, no matter how many fans you put on it.?

    Edit: If the power supply branch to which you are going to connect the device has nothing else connected, better.
    Edit: At the expense of knowing what fans they are, I'll tell you in advance that unless they work at the same level (no more, no less CFM) as the H110 ones, it's not recommended to have them. For a push-pull or any other combination to be effective, all the fans must have the same performance. That they are equal, to put it simply.

    Thanks for your answer whoololon, I'm going to wait for my 4 fans to be ordered to try it again.

    I bought some Corsair Air Series SP 140 at the beginning, I ordered the AF version but I realized too late that these are not for radiators and that they don't have a static pressure like the SP version ones but well, I want to mount it in push/pull and I'll update the post, anyway thanks for the info and help you just gave me.

    Best regards

    You'll laugh, but with a slightly thick and soft brush, clean the RAM slots of the board that is failing you. In 99% of cases, this is the solution to all the problems that the memory modules give.

    Once you have done that, you have to activate the Memory Remap in BIOS before the installation of Windows 7 of 64 bits, which I don't know if you did on the last occasion. They also say out there that that board lowers the working frequency of the memories from 800 to 667 mhz when 4x2Gb are installed, or that's what I have read out there.

    I also assume that the modules will be identical to each other, right?

    Greetings

    Thanks again whoololon (every time I write this name I remember my Age of Empires: The Conquerors days ;D)

    Thanks for the web of the memories, it seems interesting to me if I finally decide on said heatsink.

    I was looking at the board you mentioned but it also seems average to me, I have already assumed that it will be around 300 so I will keep looking at the options calmly.

    thanks for the answers, I've been looking in the BIOS and it doesn't have the option of Memory Remap or anything similar, the modules are 2x 2gb, it's all been since updating the BIOS to the latest version:( I updated it because I had compatibility problems with PCI express cards. If I could go back to the previous BIOS :$$ I didn't make a copy of the rom
